@CodeRed_dev "Mine will be different, mine will switch it up by also being a pixel platformer Metroidvania"
English

@CodeRed_dev There is a simple reason behind this. In rougelike games, the game mechanics you implement is reused throughout the game. In contrast to this cinematic scenes of god of war, require a ton of time implementing and once the scene pass it is not used anymore…

@CodeRed_dev Happens with every genre when a game becomes a best seller.
All the other indie devs start making a similar game to make money.
English

@CodeRed_dev The term feels a bit broad, though. Like, is Mario 1 a Roguelike? You do a single run and start all the way over when you lose. No saves.
English

@CodeRed_dev i see more rogueliTes than true rougueliKes nowadays though
English

@CodeRed_dev Replace roguelikes with mascot horror, seriously we got like 10 last year
English

@CodeRed_dev You're not wrong. Done it myself. But it's just a stepping stone to better things!
English

@CodeRed_dev I haven't played any. Never. Moreover, I will never do such a thing) x.com/JoeTheElusive/…
English

@CodeRed_dev Still love them though...what I do hate though is "Roguelike Deckbuilder". For fuck's sake, after Slay the Spire became a big success everyone and their mothers wanted to make their own.
English

@CodeRed_dev This picture is so cozy farming sim-stardew/harvest moon like
English

@CodeRed_dev Its a good first game to make 😁
English

@CodeRed_dev True for the name "roguelike" only. 99% of those games aren‘t even roguelikes.
English

@CodeRed_dev hear me out
my game got different guns, different items, diferent enemies, they are chosen randomly every time you play the game, you unlock things every new run
but its NOT A ROGUELIKE or is it
English

@CodeRed_dev If I hear, Roguelike or Roguelite. I just avoid the game because I know it isn't my cup of tea
English

@CodeRed_dev They are fun, but I agree, make some adventure games, some puzzles, or a simulation, or even just a classic point and click
English

@CodeRed_dev Outside of the original Rogue (and Diablo/Diablo II), I've never been one for Roguelike games. I did a video ages ago about OG Rogue.

@CodeRed_dev it annoys me so much as i always wanted to make one from the original risk of rain
English

@CodeRed_dev boomer shooters as well ngl. loved the revival at first, especially new blood and the apogee comeback but now its hella oversaturated, everything seems like a rehash of other shooters released 2 years ago, and its annoying now cuz those games are already inspired by older titles
English

@CodeRed_dev *roguelite
and many of them are still innovative, outstanding even.
even deck builders (which i thought was a dead dried up genre like 2 years ago) - and i was very wrong.
that said roguelite WILL test if your mechanics & progression are suitable for a longer playtime.
English

@CodeRed_dev Looking forward to Elden Ring Nightreign, dream come true. Roguelike souls like
English

@CodeRed_dev This is exactly how the current steam market is right now 😂😭
English

@CodeRed_dev This picture somehow reminds me of Little Scavenger, no idea why though??
English

@CodeRed_dev I work on top down game about how schoolboy crushes system and defeats evil 💖
English

@CodeRed_dev To play all indie games, it is enough to play the most popular one.
