say you are looking through a window with rain droplets on the glass while a dog is playing outside in the grass near a tree with a rainbow, clouds, and the sun in the distance. If you are focusing on the distant cloud, do you see A or B?

Like humans have two eyes, there are two images that are overlapped as in image "A" which is what I have always seen but apparently for most people their brains merge the image somehow to make Image "B" and I just can't wrap my mind around it. 🤯

@CodysLab Neither, the sun is always behind you when looking at a rainbow.

@CodysLab Neither, the brain will filter out both the window and the droplets on it.

@CodysLab I bet this is some weird thing where you say B. so you can say "ohh no no, thru focal points and depth of field perceptions its ahktually A"...what kind of weird question is this?

@CodysLab I want to say B, but now I'm going to have to wait for a cloud, tree, dog, rainbow, and rain droplets to appear to be sure

@CodysLab With my eyes the way they are at the moment... A , if I had the proper prescription spectacles on, then I would see B (it's weirdly a focus thing with me)

@CodysLab I can perceive image 2 without difficulty, but unless I want to see them, my mind edits out the vertical bars and most of the raindrops when focusing into the distance.

@CodysLab I guess it depends on what you are focusing on. There have to be two pictures overlapping, at least if you have two eyes. But you/ your brain can choose to ignore that. Sometimes it bugs me to see my nose, sometimes its filtered out.

@CodysLab Neither. It's more like A but where one eye can see whats behind its see through but still there. Like when I look at my spread fingers I see two sets of fingers and whats behind where the two don't overlap.

@CodysLab Looking through iron sights it's better to keep both eyes open but a lot of new shooters see the iron sights double like that. You should have a dominant eye and block out the doubled view of close objects with some practice. Maybe it's a subjective perception anyway.

@CodysLab Tie a long string with beads on it to something (look up Brock string) and pull one end tight to your nose then change your focus down the string to the beads. You can see the "X" of the string going into the bead that you look at. All images in front & behind are double.

@CodysLab "A". For example, if I have my cellphone in my line of sight but I'm focusing behind it, I see a blurred phone that I can see through. This blurred phone is doubled like in "A". The same happens with the window frame or a window net, for example

@CodysLab one time I tried to explain A to someone and they thought I was absolutely crazy, and I just thought they were dumb that they never noticed A. and I really don't want to believe people see B.
