When my upstairs neighbor moved out, he left his dog behind in the hallway like it didn’t matter. For an entire day and night, that tiny Chihuahua sat outside the empty apartment, crying. Not the kind of noise you can tune out. It was raw… desperate… confused — the sound of a heart that couldn’t understand why its person never came back. At first, I tried to ignore it. But I couldn’t. No living creature should be left standing in a hallway, crying into silence. So I opened my door and gently brought him inside. That’s when I realized how bad things really were. He wouldn’t eat. He didn’t react to kind words. Most of the time, he stayed hidden behind the couch or pressed himself against a yellow pillow, staring quietly with heavy, half-closed eyes. Not sleeping. Not resting. Just… exhausted from sadness. For three days, he refused food completely. I rushed him to the vet, scared something serious was wrong. After checking him, the vet said something I’ll never forget: “He’s physically okay… but he’s grieving. This is depression.” They gave him medication to help his appetite, but it didn’t work. He refused everything — food, medicine. I had to carefully give him small amounts of water and soft food just to keep him going. A week passed with almost no progress. His little body trembled when he tried to stand. One day, the vet gently told me, “Dogs in this condition don’t always recover… you should prepare yourself.” But I couldn’t give up. His owner already had. I didn’t know where my neighbor went, and at that point, it didn’t matter. If I walked away too, he’d truly have no one left. So I took time off work. Every day, I stayed close to him. I didn’t force him to interact. I didn’t overwhelm him. I just sat nearby and spoke softly. I wanted him to understand one thing — that this time, someone wasn’t going to leave. For days, nothing changed. Then, one afternoon, something small shifted. His eyes followed me as I moved across the room. On the third day, when I called his name, he slowly raised his head. By the fourth day, he leaned against that yellow pillow and gently rested his tiny head on my hand. That’s when I knew he hadn’t given up. On the sixth day, he took a small bite of food from my fingers. And I broke down. Because it wasn’t just eating. It was hope. It was trust beginning to come back. Now, a little over two weeks later, everything is different. He eats on his own. At night, he curls up beside me, resting his head just like before — but now he’s calm, safe, and finally able to sleep. Sometimes, there’s still a hint of sadness in his eyes. But it fades a little more each day. Even the vet calls him a fighter now. I named him Phoenix. Because even a heart that’s been broken by abandonment can heal. And sometimes, all it takes… is one person who chooses to stay. Credit: Melisa Perk

Every morning, I pack my daughter two lunchboxes. One for her… and one “just in case.” I never questioned it too much. She just said, “Sometimes people forget theirs.” Last week, I got a call from her teacher. She said, “I just want you to know… your daughter has been feeding the same boy every day for months. He pretends he’s not hungry, but he always finishes everything.” I asked my daughter about it that night. She shrugged and said, “He always says he’s fine, but his eyes don’t.” I had to step out of the room so she wouldn’t see me cry.

✨Remembering the most memorable Monarch ever: Queen Elizabeth II ❤️ Today marks Queen Elizabeth’s centenary and I guess we can all agree in how much HLMTQ is loved and deeply missed. Queen Elizabeth embodied duty, grace and compassion and as much as being a very much respected Sovereign, she was also a beloved mother, mother-in-law and grandmother to her family. You will be forever missed, Ma’am! ✨

We rescued Firework on the Fourth of January. Despite our best efforts there wasn’t anything more we could do. We are thankful she got to spend her last days in a foster home being pampered. Rest in Peace Firework. 💔🌈

💥TOP TEN COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD The Reputation Lab Institute asked thousands of people across the G7 which countries they admire, trust, and respect the most. These top 10 countries are known for peace, kindness, stunning nature, strong social systems, and trustworthy governments. Nordic nations sweep the top spots, proving that doing good for your people and the planet earns serious global respect. Canada takes the #1 spot again; it feels personal for many of us: polite, welcoming, safe, and genuinely liked on the world stage. Switzerland keeps its legendary reputation for stability and quality. Meanwhile, Singapore rounds out the list, showing how excellence in governance and innovation can win hearts too. These aren’t just “rich” countries. These are nations that consistently show up as peaceful, forward-thinking, and reliable — the kind of places the world looks up to when things get tough. So here’s the big question for you: Does your country appear on this list? If yes, what do you think makes it respected?

The King’s Tribute, and a Hundred Years On From Bruton Street By Robert Jobson The King recorded it in the library at Balmoral in early April. One camera. He looked tired. He looked steady. The man knows how to do this. He has been rehearsing, in one form or another, all his life. He spoke of his “darling Mama” on what would have been her hundredth. He renewed his pledge of duty and service. He called her near-century one of change, through which she remained, in his words, “constant, steadfast and wholly devoted to the people she served.” He lingered as long on the small encounters as the great — the smile, the kind word, “that marvellous twinkle of the eye when sharing a marmalade sandwich with Paddington Bear in the final months of her life.” That line will be quoted today and for years. It catches her better than a state portrait. Then the harder beat. The King is no fool, and no flatterer. “Much about the times we now live in, I suspect, may have troubled her deeply,” he said, “but I take heart from her belief that goodness will always prevail and that a brighter dawn is never far from the horizon.” A gentle line. A pointed one. Anyone reading the news this morning knows what he means. He reached back to the broadcast she gave at fourteen, in wartime, to the children of the Empire — that we can each play our part, the young Princess Elizabeth had said, “to make the world of tomorrow a better and happier place.” A belief, the King added, “which I share, with all my heart.” He closed the way he closed his first address as sovereign on the night she died. The same words, to the same darling Mama. “God bless you, darling Mama; you remain forever in our hearts and prayers.” The speech of a son. The speech of a King in command of his throne.

OMG. My wife and I found these three on a hiking trip tied up to a pole with wire so short, they couldn't lay down and with no food or water, not that they could reach it even if there was. We knocked on the door, but there was no answer, so we took them. The white one collapsed on the way to the car, so I had to carry her the rest of the way. Animal cruelty should be a Class C Felony with a mandatory 10-year prison term.

I've had him since he was a kitten and we grew up together; he deserves all of the spoilage today. He used to live with my parents a couple hours away, but my parents have been unable to care for him properly as of late. Due to life circumstances I was finally able to move Mr Whiskers with me. I was worried at first, since my parents have a huge yard that he loved to keep watch over, and here he's 100% indoors. But he adjusted quickly and is living out his golden years, getting spoiled every day! When I got him from my parents, he was 7 lbs and had untreated hyperthyroidism ☹️ It's under control with medication and he's now a healthy 10.5 lbs! I'm so proud of him! I suspect he has some arthritis in his hips, but I play chase with him almost daily and I'm in the middle of teaching him tricks to keep him mentally stimulated. Couldn't find a birthday hat, but figured a cowboy hat will do. Help me wish Mr. Whiskers many more years of good health! Show me your elder tuxies 🥹

🟥 Where WE see grade 5 students, Prime Minister Carney sees the engineers, innovators, and leaders who will tackle tomorrow’s greatest challenges. 💪🏼 Visionary leadership that looks beyond the present... He is a leader with eyes fixed on the HORIZON; building opportunities so that every young Canadian can rise toward a prosperous future. ✅🍁 Meanwhile, that OTHER guy doesn’t even have the security clearance to be IN a room like this, with these future stars. 🤷🏻‍♂️ #LeadershipMatters

The BBC has uncovered a pattern of market spikes before Donald Trump's public announcements about Iran. Hundreds of millions of dollars in oil futures were traded 14 to 16 minutes before Trump's Truth Social posts. Those traders made a fortune. Donald Trump Jr. is an investor in Polymarket, one of the prediction markets where such bets are placed, and sits on its advisory board. Trump isn't just waging wars abroad. He's waging wealth transfers at home - from the American taxpayer straight into the pockets of his golf buddies, his donors, and his son's business partners.
