Attention Game developers (and publishers!) I'm seeing a lot of games release without (updated) IGDB or YouTube game categories, so I thought it would be useful to resurface this article. IGDB gets used by Twitch, and allows creators to properly tag your game. And having a YouTube Box art makes your game look extra neat when it's tagged in the video. (even some AAA games don't have a YT box art, so here is your shot to 1UP them...) check @IGDBcom's pinned tweet to see how you can claim the developer account for a game and make instant changes to it, like new box art, new platforms and updated release dates. On YouTube it's a bit trickier and involves them crawling Steam, Wikipedia (yes, really) and good old-fashioned emails to a team that manually updates the box art. Creators: WATERMARK YOUR VIDEOS It's sad, but I've seen a recent spike of people just downloading streams from Twitch or YouTube, and fake having covered games on their own Twitch channel, uploading YOUR content. It's SUPER hard for us to spot, especially if we don't know the creator yet, and just having an on-screen tag or username visible at all times could be very useful to PR, Publishers and Indiedevs who want to send codes, but don't want to send them to fake channels. It used to be easier to spot, with scammers grabbing french footage, speaking in English over it, and then having german bots in chat... but recent ones are harder to identify with english bots, chat and gameplay and it all looks legit... I hate how this is a thing now :(
