Everybody wants toughness… until toughness gets uncomfortable. Hard coaching isn’t abuse.

Hard coaching is standards.
Hard coaching is loving a kid enough not to let him stay average. If a coach is demanding effort, detail, toughness, and accountability bothers you… that probably says more about today’s culture than it does the coach.

All public school students should have free admission into all athletic events at their respective schools.

This transfer stuff in high school has to stop. Here is a novel idea, grow and develop where your feet are. Learn work ethic, accountability, and leadership skills instead of running away when you don't get your way. This also goes for parents. The grass isn't always greener

We are teaching in an age where accountability has been shifted almost entirely from students/parents to TEACHERS.

Assistant Coaches spend more time with players than Head Coaches. If your players don't say they are closer with the Assistant Coach than the HC you have a problem... Likewise HCs, those of you jealous of your Assistants are in the wrong Business!!

The cruel truth: a school that replaces discipline with restorative language merely redistributes suffering, from the chronically disruptive student to every quiet kid who has to live in the fallout.

A teacher at my school came into my room after dismissal yesterday and showed me an email she received (summarized with her permission, student’s name has been changed): Counselor: Johnny’s parents are concerned because he’s only failing your class. Any idea why? Teacher: Attaches detailed phone log of conversations with parents sharing her concerns about the student sleeping in class and playing games on his Chromebook instead of working. Teacher also shares the 2 office referrals for cheating which resulted in zeros for test grades. Counselor: We’re going to allow him to retake the 2 tests he cheated on. Additionally, please make arrangements with the student to attend your after school tutorials and re-teach the lessons so he can make up the additional work he is missing. She didn’t even reply. She’s genuinely considering not coming back after Thanksgiving break.

@MrDanielBuck Please let’s also ditch “friends”. Even for the little ones. Teachers are authority figures, not friends. It sounds sweet for kindergartners, but not a realistic picture of the nature of the relationship.
