I’m defining “effective” as how much information they’re putting out. The news and the articles both used logic in an effective way, however the online sources were just able to put out more information in a faster way @MultiCommTJU

I would say that the most effective forms were definitely the articles in the magazines. They were able to talk about more since there’s no time limit like how there is during the news. Some online sources even continually update it when something new happens @MultiCommTJU

They used logic when they talked about how designers are using the resources that they already have to make masks for the people that need it most, such as nurses and doctors treating patients. @MultiCommTJU

I reviewed several different forms of communication about how the fashion industry is responding to covid-19. The two main ones were news interviews on CBS and articles in online magazines like ELLE. I noticed that they all used the strategy of logic @MultiCommTJU

@MultiCommTJU The fact that Dr. Fauci has already conducted a plethora of news interviews is good for Americans because it makes his knowledge and advice widely accessible across a variety of news outlets. They can listen to a trusted official who is working to tackle COVID-19.

@MultiCommTJU IMO, right now more Americans are heeding the advice of health officials like Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx over that of the Pres and major news outlets, as this is in the scope of their profession. Thus, I believe the Dr. Fauci interviews have been most effective so far.

@MultiCommTJU Health officials are trying to persuade Americans to stay at home at all times. Providing a clear step-by-step sheet of guidelines helps people understand how they can play their part in overcoming this virus. The fact that it has been made by CDC lends credibility.

@MultiCommTJU I reviewed news interviews with Dr. Anthony Fauci and the official coronavirus guidelines issued by the CDC. What I noticed is that health officials are trying to really enforce quarantining and social distancing in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

@MultiCommTJU this article talks about the reality of nurses using one mask a day and how if the general public does not stop overstocking then this can lead to a greater amount of cases. Nurses using one mask a day are at greater risk of getting and infecting other with COVID-19

@MultiCommTJU the most effective piece I analyzed was an article on ProPublica. I felt this was most effective because it appeals to emotion as it’s rhetorical strategy. In my opinion this is the strongest strategy at a time like this because people are in fear of this virus.

(2/2) @MultiCommTJU by making the public aware of the affects of mask shortages on nurses, this will hopefully make people realize that healthcare providers need these supplies much more than they do. This rhetorical strategy is emotional appeal.

(1/2) @MultiCommTJU the forms of publication I viewed were websites talking about the mask shortages and it’s affect on nurses. They’re trying to urge people to only buy masks when necessary because some nurses have been ordered to only use one mask per shift.

@MultiCommTJU I believe effective forms of communication to be those that are able to fully deliver all of the information that is needed to understand the thing that the form of communication is trying to convey. With context to my research, this came in the form of articles.

@MultiCommTJU The most effective form of communication that I found while searching for information on industrial design's response to the pandemic was that of articles. This is because it was better at delivering info through images and words than other forms of communication.

@MultiCommTJU The articles that I found in looking for industrial design's response to the pandemic did not seem to function differently in terms of rhetoric compared to that of another article. The articles were seemingly just trying to spread word of what designers were doing.

@MultiCommTJU In searching for what industrial designers were doing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic I came across primarily articles that discussed what industrial designers were making, and how they were aiding medical professionals by building medical equipment.

@MultiCommTJU I think the most effective piece of communication that I have analyzed so far would be the Youtube video of the emotional ICU Nurse. I say this because it affected me the most by appealing to emotion and made me and i hope others think twice.

@MultiCommTJU I think the main purpose behind a Nurse using their raw emotion in a video, after a 13-hour shift of taking care of COVID-19 patients , would be to squash the stigma of people thinking social distancing/following procedures is "dumb".

@MultiCommTJU I analyzed a Youtube account named “NowThis News” uploaded a video showing an ICU Nurse breaking down after a 13-Hour shift caring for COVID-19 patients. This video exemplifies the rhetorical appeal to emotion to the audience of the video.

@MultiCommTJU The Instagram account @ “NursesofInstagram” is a nursing group that has about 300,000 followers to whom they share several daily posts regarding COVID-19, signs and symptoms, census, preventative measures, and what to do when sick.
