Comrades, The emancipation of the proletariat can only be accomplished by a massive expansion of productive forces. Any spending that doesn’t result in an economic surplus destroys the very material basis on which the proletariat revolution can be achieved.

Wall street folks are celebrating @elonmusk for creating 4,400 millionaires. Fine. Did any of them celebrate @JoeBiden IRA, ARP, CHIPS for creating millions of good paying jobs? Our barometer should be opportunity & stability for the majority, not simply wealth for the few.

elon could solve world hunger literally this second all he has to do is full stack dump all his shares, cause a stock market recession, wipe out trillions, delete tens of thousands of jobs, and then he'll be able to fund the federal government for about 18 minutes

A farm whose workers devour move food then the farm yields will starve. Those jobs may very well be important, but if they cost more then the value of extra food that the farm grows so the farm is now at a deficit, then they are destroying the farm. Right now the government spends more than the total sum of all corporate profits. We effectively have to suppress wages of the farm workers.

Even you could not possibly believe @friedberg that government jobs add no value. What about the scientists at DARPA like Vint Cerf who literally co-developed the TCP/IP protocol that led to the internet? What about public school teachers, soldiers, police officers, firefighters, park rangers, VA doctors and nurses? What about cancer researchers or those mapping DNA and RNA? What about those building our roads, bridges, and airports?
david friedberg@friedberg

they’re not jobs if they’re not valued. they’re not valued if there aren’t customers out there willing to pay them for their great work. needing the government to “create” a job is tantamount to welfare and that level of welfare resolves these individuals to a dependency on the government and lack of economic mobility. and chains our people, collectively, to a more indentured future. you may be well intentioned but you have, and always will, fail to see the destitute folly of government as a job creation engine. i have tried to engage you on this topic, in good faith, with empiricism and reasoning, but you have only dodged my points and pivoted to some populist refrain about the importance of taxation and the evils of productivity-driven success. i can only assume you’re dodging these truths because you and the rest of the politburo leadership have deemed the conversation unsafe speech and put your oligopoly at risk. let’s leave it at that then. perhaps if your ways get their day, we can all bask in the glories of the dark ages ahead.

Oh, let’s make the founders give up 5% of their company to the state every year. They won’t care, while investors and founders fight to the death over 0.1% 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Here’s a clever trick for embedded systems schema migration: It is almost always better to use List<OpaqueT> and Map<OpaqueK, OpaqueV> over List<StaticT> and Map<StaticK, StaticV> The opaque types let you to reserve key space, and you can define software boundaries for safety

A farm whose workers devour more food than the farm yields will starve. Because these acts weren’t corporations with strict accounting the evidence that they generated more than they cost is circumstantial. SpaceX or Tesla could fail, and the investors would lose money if they do, and better investors that picked a different company will succeed and grow. So the farm whose workers produce more than they devour creates the food that everyone else can eat.

Elon Musk has become a trillionaire. If we confiscated just 15% of his wealth we could: clean up all the oceans, eliminate poverty, and literally make the world into a utopia. Instead he chooses to indulge in his phallic obsession with rockets and wants to build data centers in space. You cant even move electricity from space to earth. Dumbest idea ever. All the best, Wolfgang

Between 1982 and 2020, the number of the 100 richest Americans who got rich from inheritance decreased from 60 to 27. And yet on the left they think the mid 20th century was the good old days, because economic inequality was lower then. paulgraham.com/richnow.html

For a brief moment with fable I was able to grind forward enough on lof and dos proofs that the lobotomizes 4.8 and 5.5 could actually finish. Who are the top formal verification nerds out there? Is there more tricks that I could do to get to a full no lof/dos theorem? Or is a composed proof the only way? github.com/aeyakovenko/pe…
