In @nytimes with Steve Rose this morning! (link 👇)
We didn’t pick the title—our original report criticized a quote from VP Vance too. But grateful to the Times for publishing.
Let the goodwill and constructive feedback commence!

@Euractiv Eddy Wax editorializing a bit too much, he's learning some lying tricks from likes of Karnitschnig and co. Are you turning Euractiv into a shit tabloid?
English

@jan_murray @hughlaurie @unherd You're a nasty anti-trans gammon fanatic though so you deserve nothing nice.
English

While it’s all been rather fun, I do hope @hughlaurie takes the time to read my @unherd article (I’m sure he can stretch to a subscription).
Because while his witty riposte was genuinely amusing, one point I make in the piece is that it was shared with his 1.2 million followers on X. I have around 38,000.
That creates something of an imbalance - particularly given that the responses to my original post were overwhelmingly warm-hearted and affectionate towards the show.
The result has been some fairly horrific trolling. It turns out House fans are even more abusive than trans activists (and that’s saying something).
I have enough experience of the media to take it on the chin, as the saying goes. But someone without my background might have found the experience far more distressing.

@_kotelnaya_ You’re the cunt in this convo mate. What’s worse, you’re a russian
English

@KatarinaHill2 @jan_murray Insane anti-trans cabal of senescent gammon brits. Might just be the saddest online type.
English

@chancerlastly @jan_murray House big in Belgium then?
English

@LBC @lewis_goodall Yes you vile gammon pig, a genocide is a genocide whether it's Nazi mass murder of European Jewry or Israel's occupation and mass murder of Palestinians.
English

‘You would compare what’s happening in Gaza to the Holocaust?’
@Lewis_Goodall rejects Hasan Piker's ‘crass and offensive’ comments comparing Jews to Nazis.

@JohnOBrennan2 Spot the fat bald black-and-tan descendant.

Great reporting, as ever, by @ConorGallaghe_r @IrishTimes on ownership of Aughinish Alumina plant.
Like many EU states, Ireland spent most of the last two decades in denial about the nature/extent of the Russian presence in the country. We should have changed approach in 2022.

English

@posta_octavian "Anti-white" and has the EU flag. Motherfucker's mind has been colonized by America.

@rick_alpert @EastEndCruz @BlueBoxDave Damn boomer, this is how you spend your twilight years? No wonder your kids don't call.
English

@EastEndCruz @BlueBoxDave Gerry really was a sailor. Pelley is as fake as can be be. Notice his brand new American flag. Fresh out of the plastic bag for the photoshoot. Now Walter Cronkite was a sailor; a good one. Google him. Hundreds of pix of WC sailing. Pelley? One.

Real grizzled, salt of the earth journalist…
Variety@Variety
Former “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley took to Instagram on Saturday to thank his fans for their support after the program’s new executive producer, Nick Bilton, fired him after an explosive confrontation. “To all of you who have been so kind, you are the wind in my sails. So deeply grateful,” Pelley wrote, along with a photo of him looking elated at the helm of his sailboat. variety.com/2026/tv/news/s…

@JavelinFella @HavryshkoMarta @washingtonpost That the best you can do, cosplaying australian yokel? You like Neo-Nazis, that part of your cosplay?
English

@HavryshkoMarta @washingtonpost Why do you give a platform to ruzzian imperialist fascists? Is it the small pittance in which Putin pays you?

The Washington Post Whitewashes 🇺🇦Neo-Nazis
In a recent article on drones and modern warfare, The Washington Post presents Yevhen Karas simply as a military commander and expert, giving him extensive quotes and portraying him as a wartime hero.
Missing is any mention of his leadership role in C14, the neo-Nazi group linked to anti-Roma pogroms in Kyiv, violence against LGBTQ people, and other acts of political violence.
Members of this network once tried to kill a friend of mine.
Karas’s associates have also taken part in seizures of churches belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Karas openly threatens opponents and appears to enjoy political protection.
He is a deeply controversial figure, disliked by many Ukrainian servicemen themselves.
Yet for The Washington Post, he is simply a respected commander and expert.
Journalism requires context. Omitting it sanitizes reality.
Shame.

@BenMFreeman To do this while a genocide and occupation and multiple wars of aggression are being waged by said state is a reminder that Israel is currently the lodestar for fascists and the detritus of humanity.

Tonight is my last night in Glasgow.
It is where I was born. It is where I spent my childhood, where I became a Bar Mitzvah, and where much of my understanding of myself was formed.
Mostly because of my parents, Scotland has always been the constant. No matter where I happened to be living, whether London, Hong Kong, or elsewhere, there was always an assumption that Scotland would be there. It was the place I returned to when life became complicated, uncertain, or challenging. My parents were here. It was familiar. It was home.
Tomorrow, I leave the UK and make Aliyah to Israel.
Over the past few years, I have spent a great deal of time writing, researching, and speaking about Jewish identity, Jewish peoplehood, Jewish indigeneity, and Jewish self-determination. In many ways, that journey led me here. Not because I stopped being British, but because I came to understand more deeply what it means to be Jewish.
Tomorrow I will become an Israeli citizen. I leave with great love for the life my parents gave me here and excitement about the chapter that lies ahead.
Scotland will always be where I am from.
But tomorrow, I go home.

@Microinteracti1 We welcome Russian tourists with open arms, just like Americans. Countries like the Baltics and Scandinavians can do what they want, that is their prerogative, but don't preach to other EU countries what to do.
English

The EU issued nearly half a million tourist visas to Russians in 2025.
Not to dissidents. Not to refugees. Tourist visas. For holidays. The highest number since Putin sent his army into Ukraine, up 10% on the year. France, proud, principled, morally unimpeachable France, raised its Russian approvals by 23% in a single year.
When the numbers got awkward, the EU did what the EU does. It deleted them. Russian visa statistics quietly vanished from the official Schengen tracker in early 2026. Eight countries had to formally demand they be put back.
They hid the data. Not the policy. The data.
Ten countries, the Nordics, the Baltics, and the Netherlands among them, had to write an actual letter to get this onto a ministers’ meeting agenda. The remaining seventeen apparently saw nothing strange about any of this.
No law is coming before summer. Because before any law can exist, there must first be a proposal. Before the proposal, a consultation. Before the consultation, a scoping exercise. Before the scoping exercise, a working group must be convened to determine whether a scoping exercise is appropriate. The working group requires terms of reference. The terms of reference must be approved by a subcommittee. The subcommittee reports to a committee. The committee feeds into a framework. The framework informs a roadmap. The roadmap gets amended seventeen times and renamed a “strategic pathway.” The strategic pathway is then circulated to member states for comment. France requests more time. The whole thing goes back to the working group.
Any legislation won’t pass before 2027. Possibly 2031, if Italy has a strong summer season.
Ukraine is entering year five. Russians are entering Italy.
Four years of sanctions packages, candlelit solidarity vigils, and solemn declarations about European values, and Paris increased its Russian tourist approvals by nearly a quarter.
The EU didn’t fail to stop the missiles. It didn’t even try to stop the sunbathing.

@olgakhazan You're a shit writer with boring interests, not surprising you're also a shit and boring person
English

@TomTugendhat @CaolanReports Vile fucking gammon whose country is enabling a genocide in Palestine. Scum.
English

The ethical gymnastics here are remarkable to watch. @CaolanReports is investigating the murder of Ukrainian women and children by Russia’s war machine. He’s gone to a plant in Ireland that makes that possible but killing Ukrainian children isn’t grounds for sanctions, according to local voices. But it would be for Israel.
English

@ChrisCillizza Dance piggie dance. You have lots of su*cidal thoughts?
English

@DrNeilStone Vile gammon way too invested in the Russo-Ukrainian war, not much interested in the genocide his government is backing. A physician too. Hopefully it will come back to you.

@ftworldnews How embarrassing is the UK and its government?
