Cigars are not exactly part of our identity as Ijebus. They neither featured in our traditional fashion nor even in our cosmopolitan cultural expression. The closest resemblance would perhaps be the old smoking pipes - and even those were never a casual “walking around everywhere” youth culture like modern cigarettes, cigars or vapes. Ojude-Oba is a festival of culture, tradition, and custom. Every representation at that gathering must exhibit the proudest texture of who we are. That one man once won public admiration for the seamless way he wove a cigar into his rich regalia and elegant composure does not consecrate that as our fashion standard. It was his style - personal, deliberate, his own. A single tree does not make a forest, and one man's flourish does not become a people's uniform. Now seeing practically everybody - including grandmothers - parading lit cigars at Ojude Oba as though it were part of our ancestral dress code feels quite off. Let us be original. This lazy imitation for cheap recognition does not cover most of you in glory. Good Evening Severally...

You can disagree with government policies, that is perfectly fine, that is democracy. People are frustrated, things are hard, and no one should pretend otherwise. Many of the problems we complain about today have been building up for years, poor decisions, delayed reforms, weak systems, overdependence on oil, and a habit of avoiding hard choices. The truth is, there is never a “good time” to fix deep problems. Tough decisions will always come with discomfort. We can debate whether the approach is right or wrong, and government should absolutely be held accountable, but expecting decades of problems to disappear in a short time is not realistic. Nobody enjoys hardship, but sometimes the real question is whether the country is finally trying to deal with the root of the problem instead of just managing symptoms. Time will tell, but we owe ourselves honest conversations, not just anger.

Before the removal of fuel subsidy, Rivers State was receiving around N18 billion monthly, while Obio/Akpor got about N450 million. Last month alone, R/S eceived N50 billion, while Obio/Akpor received roughly N1.31 billion. But on X, I am still asking Tinubu where the fuel subsidy money is going.

If we want to play the blame game, let’s look at your own candidate. When Obi was governor, did Anambra not face massive security crises? Have you forgotten the 2006 Onitsha military clashes and curfews? Have you forgotten the 2009 Oba-Nnewi bullion van attack where 30 people were killed in one day, or the 499 armed robberies recorded on his watch by the NBS? By your logic, since security challenges happened under him, he failed the primary purpose of government too and shouldn't have been re-elected in 2010. Insecurity is a complex, deep-rooted battle…. stop using it as a cheap weapon when your own backyard wasn’t perfect. If he couldn’t completely safeguard a single state as governor, why do you think it's a simple task to manage the security of over 240 million citizens as President? Have you forgotten how Tinubu took over a chaotic Lagos and laid the security blueprint that actually made it safe? Yet you want us to vote for Obi, who completely failed his primary purpose on a state level? If he couldn't handle a single state, putting him in charge of the entire country means we will face something far worse than what we are seeing now.

People who showed up today were almost overfed and they made our day. Our item 1 was chin-chin, sweets and cold wine. Then we moved to spicy ram asun with chilled water and maltina. After that, fried ram meat came in different plates for everybody to eat. When they thought it was over, we served jollof rice and fried meat again. And to cap it all, a very hot and spicy assorted ram paper soup with low music in the background.
