Pleased to welcome Nigeria's Ambassador -Designate to the Kingdom of Spain, the former Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, in company of Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, to our Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Nigeria Embassy in Spain, holds much sentimental value for me, having once served as the country’s Ambassador and Head of Mission there. I have no doubt that Dr Ikpeazu will bring much dynamism to his new assignment Congratulations and best wishes for a successful tour of duty.

The King of the Beautiful game, Florentino Perez, Real Madrid President turns 79 today, International Women's Day 2026. Football is universally known as the Beautiful Game because of it's passion, it's unpredictability, drama and artistic skill that transcends language and culture. It is a unifying force. Today, I pay tribute to an extraordinary individual who gave me a great deal of inspiration during my tenure as Nigeria's Ambassador to Spain. Nigeria's Embassy in Madrid, Spain, is a stone throw from the Bernabeu Stadium, home of Real Madrid Football Club, and some of my most memorable moments watching spectacular football matches were spent there in the VIP booth courtesy of Mr Florentino Perez. This was where I met the iconic Ronaldo for the very first time. Today, IWD'26, I equally celebrate a man who appreciates the impact and momentum women bring to the beautiful game, and who has helped the women's football movement grow in leaps and bounds. Florentino Perez is the primary architect behind the creation of Real Madrid Femenino, a Female Football Team, through the 2020 merger with CD Tacón. As president, he oversees this project, inspiring a new generation of girls and women to embrace the fact that this Beautiful Game is inclusive, and belongs to all of us! Happy Birthday, Mr Florentino Perez! #realmadrid

A great opportunity to strengthen our bilateral with Bangladesh 🇧🇩 when H.E Maih MD Mainul Kabir, High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria paid a courtesy visit together with the Mission's consul. Nigeria and Bangladesh have a vast potential for expanding cooperation in Trade, Agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, ICT, education, maritime services and technical training. Bangladesh and Nigeria are collaborating on academic programmes, scholarships and capacitybuilding, and both nations are committed to continued partnership and working more closely to elevate bilateral relations to a more strategic and mutually beneficial level.

The visit of the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Nigeria, H.E Yousef Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Al-Hail was another great opportunity for our two nations to reaffirm our excellent bilateral relations and further explore other areas of mutual benefits for both countries in strategic areas of cooperation such as the energy sector, trade and investment and expanding our manufacturing partnerships, real estate, education, security and defence, health ,Agriculture , capacity building, sports amongst others. There are over ten thousand Nigerians employed in Qatar, and majority of our migrants workers over there are thriving and making significant contributions to the country’s economic development. Nigeria remains open to increased Qatari investments, particularly in priority sectors aligned with our National development agenda.

It was a constructive session of deliberations when the Ambassador of Israel to Nigeria, H.E Michael Freeman paid a courtesy visit to my office@MFA, Abuja. Our discussion cut across various aspects including economic cooperation, consular, health, Agriculture technology, intelligence sharing, religious tourism, border security management and multilateral relationships, among others.  Israel has undertaken to donate about 60 fully equipped ambulances to Nigeria, and will also train the people that will man those ambulances . These kind of initiatives are very significant because we have a problem regarding first responders at accident and emergency scenes, and this is a timely step towards strengthening ambulance culture in Nigeria and saving precious lives. Ambassador Freeman indicated that Israel was desirous of deepening bilateral relations with Nigeria, the most populous country in Africa and opined that the relationship between both countries would be further strengthened through international conversations and official visits between them. He also said that Israel was prepared to make it's agricultural technology available to Nigeria for food security.

It was highly engaging at the First Plenary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) 2026, as Catholic Bishops from all over Nigeria converged at the CSN, Abuja. The interactive session provided a very insightful and gripping address by the very erudite Dr Sam Amadi, and a rare opportunity to engender mutually informative positions between the Church and Catholic public servants on matters of leadership and accountability in public service.
