Abducted, bound, brutally beaten, stabbed, and ultimately murdered - Another #AwamiLeague activist killed in #Bangladesh amid rising political #violence under the #TariqueRahman-led #BNP Govt. The victim, Alal Sheikh, a former joint secretary of Bogura City Jubo League (Awami League’s youth wing), was reportedly abducted in broad daylight on April 2, 2026, from a crowded marketplace in Bogura. Witnesses say he was taken in front of hundreds of people by associates of a local Jubo Dal (BNP’s youth wing) leader. He was then allegedly transported to a remote wood, where he was tied up, covered with a jute sack, and subjected to extreme violence, including repeated stabbing, severe beatings, slashing of tendons, and broken bones - before being left for dead. Alal succumbed to his injuries the following day while receiving treatment at a hospital in #Dhaka. According to his family, the motive behind the killing was his decision to contest a local market association election against Shafiqul Islam, the Labour Affairs Secretary of Jubo Dal in Bogura City.
