Thanks to Edwina Melville-Gray, Chair of the Canadian Alliance of British Pensioners, for explaining the circumstances of UK-born Canadian seniors who paid into the system for decades only to find their pensions frozen when they moved to Canada. By contrast, Canada does the right thing and indexes the pensions of our citizens who move to the UK. This issue affects nearly 3000 people in our own community of Nanaimo-Ladysmith. If only we had a Prime Minister who was friends with the king who could raise this issue… I urge PM Carney again to do the right thing and advocate for these Canadians as part of our CPTTP negotiations. I’ve included additional links to Ms. Melville-Gray’s testimony and my speech in the House on this topic below.

@CABP_News Thank you Edwina for all you're doing to end the injustice of "frozen pensions", and the way it cruelly impoverishes UK pensioners retired in Canada. I, amongst many, hope the Committee absorb your words, and Canada demands "unfreezing" as a condition of UK joining CPTPP. 🙏🙏
