At around 6.40am on Sunday 29 March, police were called to reports that a 19-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted. Raja Ahbab, of Davison Street, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, was later arrested in connection with the incident. The 53-year-old, who is a Pakistani national, has since been charged with sexual assault, kidnap, and driving without due care and attention. One of the most stupid & counterproductive taxes is Landfill Tax - the fly-tipper's friend. It only raises some £600m but costs between £1bn to £2bn to clean up the illegal waste that the tax heavily incentivises. As the National Audit Office has said "A large increase in landfill tax rates has increased the potential financial return to criminals." So what did Labour do today? It increased the standard rate to £130.75 per tonne & doubled the lower rate.
