I was surprised to read an @elonmusk quote that “consciousness is a physical phenomenon, in my view.” Surprised because rigorous studies of consciousness and conscious experience have provided evidence of out-of-body consciousness. It seems unlikely that a machine could be conscious. I am curious about whether @elonmusk has had time to read such books as Raymond Moody’s Life After Life, Eben Alexander’s Proof of Heaven, David Chalmers’s The Conscious Mind, Robert Temple’s A New Science of Heaven. What a marvelous era we are living in.
