They have a different gotra system where surname =Gotra. They don't have Brahminical gotr like Kashyap, Garg etc, for them surnames like Baliyan, Malik etc serve the role of gotra i.e. you can't marry someone with same surname

Horrors of Communism showcased: On the left is German Jagerschnitzel. Very good comforting meal if you can get it. On the right is the Communist East German "Jagerschnitzel" made up of several slices of a giant hotdog (you got a comically sized hotdog known as State Sausage for your ration) that's deep fried. The side is box noodles with ketchup as the sauce. Nothing shows off leftism than this shit. Instead of a home cooked meal made with love. You get food a Methhead would make in their hotel from money they got stealing copper. With the insistence they're the same and it's all subjective to add insult to injury.

Basically Mao socially modernized China by autocratically breaking up old kinship clans, feudal beliefs, superstitions, marriage customs, forcing literacy & human capital edu reforms (like Rhee in KR, Meiji in JP, Imperial JP/Chiang in TW, Brits/LKY in SG) - and made China socially ready as human capital to effectively participate in the globalized modern economy & tolerate econ reforms. India however did not go through the painful social modernization process of destroying old clannish/superstition/feudal/informal caste culture, and in tandem w these cultures holding enough electoral power in a democracy to resist change, makes India socially mired in premodern era, and thus less compatible in human capital terms to accept modern econ reforms and compete in global economy. Henrich's WEIRD book talks about China's nonWEIRD modernization a bit, but this essay extends the analysis to India. The last time a Hindu wrote a foundational book on strategy & statecraft was over 1,000 years ago. Arthashastra, Shanti Parva, Shukra Neeti; all pre-Islam. Meanwhile, the Thirty-Six Stratagems, Machiavelli, Clausewitz, Mahan, & Liddell Hart were written in the last ~500 years.
