@Nerdcognito When your take is so bad that even Brenden Lee Mulligan knows its horseshit

@krish_bohra Pulpy book covers are the coolest shit and we should bring them back
English

Sorry man that's more on the so-called high-brow lit-fic readers. They think they are too good for a cover like this. And I'd rather have readers be more accepting of diversity than change a cover that reflects the literary traditions the book comes from.

This book opens with a perceptive selection of lines from Osip Mandelstam about death and is as much about the fragmented nature of personal-historical knowledge and what constitutes technology as anything else, but the cover does it dirty. Spec Fic needs better covers.

@KaylenaRadcliff No, listening isn't reading, and audiobooks will be better if people treat them as a unique experience

@heykizuna God no, but at least I don't have to look at myself
English

@moonpetal76 I don't like myself, why would I expect someone else to?

@OrevaZSN Spent my Saturday doing this, was a fantastic day apart from the rain

@kelly_ques Crimson, but it's just my favourite colour

@yOru1441 I definitely also have similar problems with ridiculous backlogs, but this seems like a good way to try and deal with it

Soon, I'll be reading Swords Against Death by Fritz Leiber as well, but I'm waiting for my reading mate to finish their current book

@MadKamikazius I agree, and I think this is coming from games where magic kind of needs to be harder in order to make game mechanics
English

To be fair a lot of modern fantasy focuses too much on the magic, whereas oldschool fantasy, particularly pulp, had it be a mysterious force wielded by strange sorcerers.
Nowadays every second fantasy protagonist has magic powers and learns how to use the magic system. Boring.

Speaking more on this, I went on Reddit to see and this is the funniest post ever. Like just read historical fiction.

Console Warriors are a special breed man. It fascinates me that tribalism runs so deep in our DNA that adults with families and shit argue about where they feel it’s best to play games. How about you just enjoy playing games and shut up? It isn’t that hard. #NoBullshitJustGaming
