Customs, IGI Airport Date: 05.05.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 8957 grams marijuana/ganja Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, booked a case of smuggling of suspected ganja/marijuana against two Indian passengers arriving from Vietnam by Flight No. AI-2389 on 05.05.2026. On the basis of profiling, the passengers were intercepted at the Green Channel and subjected to X-ray and detailed baggage examination. During the search, a total of 17 packets of assorted ready-to-eat snacks containing green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana were recovered from one black and one green trolley bag. The total net weight of the seized substance was 8,957 grams, valued at approximately ₹8.957 crorein the illicit market. Field testing indicated positive results for ganja/marijuana (prima facie). The act constitutes violation of Section 8 of the NDPS Act, 1985, punishable under Sections 20, 23, and 29. Accordingly, both passengers were arrested on 05.05.2026 under Section 43(b), and the contraband along with packaging material was seized under Section 43(a) of the NDPS Act. Customs, IGI Airport Date: 03.05.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 977 grams marijuana/ganja Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, booked a case of smuggling of suspected ganja/marijuana against one Indian passenger arriving from Bangkok by Flight No. AI-2335 dated 03.05.2026 at Terminal-3. On the basis of profiling, the passenger was intercepted and subjected to examination. During baggage check, 04 polythene pouches containing green-coloured narcotic substance suspected to be ganja/marijuana were recovered. The total net weight of the seized substance is 977 grams, valued at approximately ₹97.77 lakhin the illicit market. Field testing indicated positive results for ganja/marijuana (prima facie). The act constitutes violation of provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985, punishable under Sections 8, 20, and 23. Accordingly, the passenger was arrested on 04.05.2026 under Section 43(b), and the contraband along with packing material was seized under Section 43(a) of the NDPS Act. Customs, IGI Airport Date: 03.05.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 18003.5 grams marijuana/ganja Customs officers at IGI Airport, New Delhi, booked a case of smuggling of suspected ganja/marijuana against one Uzbek national passenger arriving from Bangkok by Flight No. AI-2303 on 04.05.2026. Acting on specific intelligence, the passenger was off-loaded from the International Transit Area and subjected to detailed examination. During baggage check, 12 polythene pouches containing green-coloured narcotic substance were recovered from a sea green trolley bag. The total net weight of the seized substance was 18,003.5 grams (approx. 18.003 kg), valued at around ₹18 crore. Prima facie it appeared to be ganja/marijuana. The act constitutes violation of Section 8 of the NDPS Act, 1985, punishable under Sections 20, 23, and 29. Accordingly, the passenger was arrested on 05.05.2026 under Section 43(b), and the contraband along with packing material was seized under Section 43(a) of the NDPS Act. On the basis of profiling, the passenger was intercepted at the Green Channel and subjected to X-ray and detailed baggage examination. During the search, 11 polythene pouches containing green-coloured narcotic substance were recovered from a black trolley bag. The total net weight of the seized substance is 5,467 grams, valued at approximately ₹5.467 crorein market. Prima facie it appeared to be ganja/marijuana. The act constitutes violation of Section 8 of the NDPS Act, 1985, punishable under Sections 20, 23, and 29. Accordingly, the passenger was arrested on 06.05.2026 under Section 43(b), and the contraband along with packing material was seized under Section 43(a) of the NDPS Act. Customs, IGI Airport Date: 5.04.2026 Operation: AIU, IGI Airport, New Delhi Seizure: 2013.5 grams Ganja On 05.04.2026, officers of Indian Customsat Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi detected a case of smuggling of NDPS substance suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana. During surveillance of Flight No. AI-2303 (BKK–DEL)arriving from Bangkok, three packets wrapped in grey adhesive tapewere recovered from the washroom dustbin of the aircraft. The packets were subjected to X-ray screening, which indicated suspicious contents. On examination, the packets were found to contain a green-coloured leafy substance, suspected to be Ganja/Marijuana. Gross Weight: ~2357 grams Net Weight: 2013.5 grams Estimated Value: ~₹2.01 crore Accordingly, the contraband along with packing material has been seized under Section 43(a) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Further investigation is under progress to identify the person(s) involved and the associated smuggling network.@cbic_india @Delhicustoms
