NEW: Federal authorities are investigating a massive ‘8647’ that appears etched into the grass of the National Mall.
‘8647’ has become a mainstream way for President Trump’s critics to show disgust with the commander-in-chief.
‘86’ usually means to axe or kill something, commonly used in the restaurant industry, and ‘47’ references Trump as the 47th president of the United States.
The most notable incident of the ‘8647’ trend came after former FBI director James Comey posted the message online last year.
The Department of the Interior saying, “The deranged vandalism on our National Mall will not be tolerated,” and that “any threat against the President is taken very seriously.”
