They specifically are firing real living humans with lives and families for AI that they are paying the same if not more than that employee. The only ones winning with AI are AI companies and moguls.

Any AI assets are used only as placeholders that are being replaced with manually created materials, says the Crazy Taxi: World Tour lead, Kenji Kanno, to Kotaku. “We used it as a reference, so our artists would pull up [and] generate some of their ideas, and then they would look at that, you know, generated image, and then they would draw the actual thing. So actual creators, everything from programming to assets, everything is made by an actual human. It’s only used as a reference for them to look at, and then they would actually create the actual thing that would go into the game.” SEGA is far from the first company to use AI for such purposes. While such publishers often face initial criticism, it seems that the tool is becoming the industry’s norm. #SEGA #CrazyTaxi

@dasadikpala @Alphons63 Incredibly. Loving vincent is an entirely painted movie with each and every frame painted by hand by hundreds of artists. Its impact was stunning for its usage of paint as a medium for cinematography. This is lazy work by a guy unwilling to paint or get human help to paint.

Platform takes a cut, publisher takes a cut, studio leads take a cut, and the actual hands who make the work get the leftovers as salary. Every human hand you remove from the work is money in corporate coffers.

Every common font used in the printing press was recreated for digital use when computer fonts were created. This demo is theft of artistic ip of living font artists.

font licensing is kinda broken? screen-recording of my new workflow: when I find a font, instead of paying literally $2,221+ USD, I screenshot a few words, ai generate the typeface, and then download & use the new TTF. now just need to figure out how embed the model into design processes better...

@EZE3D Why would it be an issue if AI was used in making the game? The only thing that really matters is if the game is fun to play. In 10 years there will be not a single game that didn’t use AI in some way, and that’s ok.

@Qphlat @SoaHCity Gen AI and "NPC AI" are nowhere close to the same thing. One is hallucinated mumbo jumbo code and dog shit unoptimized assets. NPC AI isnt ai, it is specific instructions a game entity follows which produces repeatable and understandable actions in game logic.

A Crazy Taxi revival, one of my all-time favorite games, that adds a new story mode, customization, five huge maps, returning and new characters, incredible style, the Offspring soundtrack, and more… Only to admit they used generative AI to make assets. My heart sank.

@MrXabungle @DiscussingFilm I can see why: -NPC interacting while driving. -More obstacles while going point to point. -Harder customers each time you succeed. -Gameplay rewards the player's skills with more points. Crazy Taxi is a frenetic game, and interacts with the level so much. So makes sense.
