Five Arrested in Targeted Shooting Murder of Hamilton Teenager
Hamilton Police have arrested five people in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Stoney Creek earlier this year, describing the incident as a targeted attack involving multiple suspects and firearms.
Emergency crews were called to the area of Highway 8 and Fruitland Road at 4:30 AM on March 6, 2025, after reports of gunfire. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles at the scene, a white Kia sedan and a red Acura SUV, both vehicles were previously reported as stolen.
The driver of the SUV, Faizaan Awan, 16, was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to hospital but later died from his injuries.
Following a weeks-long investigation, Hamilton police announced that five individuals have now been charged with first-degree murder in Awan’s death, as well as attempted murder in relation to the surviving passengers.
Those charged include:
-Mohammad Aburas, 26 of Ottawa
-Ameer Nabout, 22 of Hamilton
-Ameen Nabout, 20 of Hamilton
-Rami Qasem, 42 of Hamilton
-Sari Nawabit, 36 of Hamilton
Investigators allege the shooting was not random, but a coordinated and targeted attack carried out by multiple individuals using more than one firearm.
The investigation remains ongoing. Detectives believe additional suspects may be involved and say further arrests are expected.
