In a major breakthrough, Amritsar Commissionerate Police busts a cross-border illegal arms smuggling module, apprehends three accused, and recovers six sophisticated pistols. Preliminary investigation reveals that the accused were in contact with #Pakistan-based smugglers through social media platforms, facilitating the smuggling of illegal arms and supplying them to criminal elements. The consignments were retrieved and further supplied to criminal elements across #Punjab. An FIR has been registered at PS Cantonment, #Amritsar under relevant provisions of the Arms Act. In a major breakthrough, District Amritsar Rural Police, in a joint operation with District Faridkot Police, solves the grenade attack case at PS Bhindi Saida, leading to the arrest of six accused and the recovery of two pistols. Preliminary investigation reveals that the module was backed by #Pakistan’s ISI. The accused were in contact with a Pak-based handler operating from abroad, who was directing terror activities in #Punjab. On the intervening night of March 29–30, 2026, the accused retrieved hand grenades, conducted reconnaissance, and carried out the attack. The module had been radicalised and motivated to target police establishments, with promises of substantial financial rewards for executing the attack. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections of the Explosive Substances Act, UAPA, BNS, and the Arms Act. With the cooperation of MLA Bhadaur 88 new CCTV cameras have been made operational in Sub-Division Tapa including 10 ANPR cameras. A local Control Room has also been established at PS Tapa. These cameras are being integrated with the District CCTV Command and Control Centre. The work on the District Command and Control Centre is progressing at full pace and is likely to be completed within a month.
