NO SANCTION OR INSULT FROM OUTSIDE CAN EVER TARNISH THE HONOUR AND INTEGRITY OF RWANDA DEFENCE FORCES.
H.E. PAUL KAGAME | #Kwibuka32

English

You really need to stop this superiority complex nonsense about human rights. You think you are the only ones who respect human rights, all others it's about violating human rights. No, we've fought for human rights and freedoms of our people much better and more than anyone, including you people who keep talking about this nonsense. Where we have taken our country from and where it is now speaks for itself. The rest of the story just comes from this complex.
These two worlds where there are people who know everything about human rights and all kinds of things and another world where people are just people who don't know, but these are our human rights. When we respect the things we respect in our countries, it's not for you, it's not for anybody, it's for ourselves. Is it not universal? Yes, it is universal, but if it is universal and you believe it, then you don't become the judge yourself. You don't start telling the others what to do, what they should not do, or that what they are doing is not to your satisfaction. Who are you?

We have to live our lives, we have to fight for that, we have to live the way we want. And I tell anybody, to his face, to go to hell.
If anyone comes around and thinks they can, you know, they come with, hey, we're going to sanction
to what? Go to hell. Just go to hell.
If you have your own issues to deal with, go and deal with your own issues. Leave me to mine. This is the spirit, I think, Rwandans must have in their daily lives.
So my worry is not about how powerful these people are that come down upon us and throw anything at us.
I'm never worried about that. I worry about one thing, which has lived on for centuries.
It's for Rwandans. It's for Africans who sit back and find nothing wrong with accepting to be treated like that.
That's my only worry.
When can Rwandans, when can Africans refuse to be mistreated like this, to be told they have no value,
to be told that their lives have to be lived as a result of a favour they are being done by somebody else?
What a shame for people to accept that even for a moment.
You must not accept it. You must get up and fight for yourself.

TO ALL SURVIVORS, KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE. WE STAND WITH YOU ALWAYS.
H.E. PAUL KAGAME | #Kwibuka32

English

“As things stand, Rwanda faces an impossible choice: To either tolerate the continued presence of the FDLR and its growing network of militias and allow them to grow closer to our border. Or to defend ourselves and be condemned for it. The choice is, therefore, very clear. In our position, would any other country make a different choice?”

Does anyone in this world want to keep this FDR story going forever? Maybe there are people who want to keep it going forever. Maybe there are people who don't even care. It's their right. I have no quarrel with those. But boy, you are joking if you think some of us Rwandans who know the story about them will ever agree with you.
Anyone thinking like that is just absolutely mistaken. It's about us. It's about our lives. It's about our story. It's about our history. It's about our identity. It's about our existence. And nobody in this world is the one responsible for us. No. We are responsible for ourselves. There's no question about it.
I keep repeating it. I say it again because that's what it is. That's a fact. If you want to change the fact through diplomacy or through politics or through interests or through whatever, I can only do so much. But within my means, I will do everything that can be done to make sure that that story of FDR and genocide and with which people play around with doesn't visit us again.
