I have a very serious question to which I would appreciate serious answers. Many, hundreds, of people I know personally are voting for Kamala because she’s not Trump. Others are voting for her because she’s a woman and they think it’s time America had a female president. Others because of her race. Some others I’ve spoken to told me they are voting for her because she seems cool and fresh and they think that’s what America needs right now. Here’s the question. If you are voting for Kamala for any other reason than the ones mentioned above, can you please tell me what that reason is? Again, the answer should not include the word Trump. I’m not asking why you hate Trump. You’ve made that perfectly clear. I am asking why you like Kamala. Is it her policies? If so, which one/s? Is it her opinions? If so, which one/s? This is a genuine question and I am asking to learn, not to judge. Looking forward to real answers. I’ll just add my own two cents. Out of the thousands of people who have commented on my posts about American politics, there seems to be a very interesting trend. Almost everyone I know who’s voting for Trump is voting for him because they like his policies, whether domestic or foreign. It’s true, some are voting for him because he’s not Kamala, but based on my totally anecdotal evidence, that number is very small. Your opinion on Trump isn’t relevant to this question. I’m just seeing many people voting for Trump because he’s Trump and many voting for Kamala because he’s not Trump. Every time I mention anything about Kamala, the vast majority of comments begin with “But Trump…” So, if you’re voting for Kamala for reasons other than the fact that she’s not Trump, she’s a woman, a person of color, or she’s young and hip, what is the reason? Looking forward to your thoughts.

As someone who leans to the left, I'll tell you why the apparent Tucker Carlson decision to come to Twitter and create a new show here has me at least a little bit hopeful. Please hear me out before criticism: - The biggest gripe I had with Tucker's show was that he pushed theories over fact, and implied things which were not always true, bordering on lies sometimes. - If Twitter is able to integrate a live version of Community Notes for his broadcasts, his embellishments, theories and implied narratives can be fact-checked by the community in real time. Additionally, the real time tweet stream would also act as pushback to any inaccurate information. - The alternative to a Tucker/Twitter team-up would have been the possibility of him going to a far-right media organization like a Newsmax or OAN, and possibly taking a conspiracy-laden, far-right agenda into the mainstream. My hope, and I very well could be wrong, is that Twitter makes Tucker more moderate and the community here, both right and left use whatever new tools Twitter could offer to call him out when he drifts too far into far-fetched conspiracy theory territory. I'm an optimist and I hope that I'm right. The alternative would likely be quite bad for Carlson, Twitter and America. Thoughts?
