Italy’s foreign minister cancels his trip to the U.S. after President Trump reportedly say Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni “begged” him for a photo at the G7 Summit
Antonio Tajani@Antonio_Tajani

ADNOC just told buyers: "Come load inside the Gulf. Or you're in breach." Here's why that message just got a lot more powerful. 40 fully loaded supertankers are sitting inside the Persian Gulf right now. 80 million barrels. Ready to move. Just waiting for shipowners to feel safe enough to transit Hormuz. 21 of those VLCCs are pointed at Asia. 5 specifically showing China as destination. 5 more headed to Singapore for trans-shipment. As of this morning, at least 3 supertankers are already steaming east toward the strait at normal speeds owners starting to test the route. This is the near-term bearish reality I won't hide from you. Once those ships move, the market gets a sudden burst of delayed supply on top of ongoing production ramps. That's why Brent softened on the deal headlines. Traders are pricing these "shadow barrels" coming out.

IRGC has reportedly told ships in the Strait of Hormuz that: "Since Israel's withdrawal from Lebanon and the complete lifting of the naval blockade and the withdrawal of American terrorist forces from the Persian Gulf and the region are among the main conditions of the agreement between Iran and the United States. The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until these two conditions are met, all ships are ordered not to approach the Strait of Hormuz for their own safety and health, any vessel that defies this order will be targeted.”

There is now serious concern of public backlash in Russia against the Kremlin as fear from Ukrainian drone strikes and fatigue from high war casualties with little progress mounts.

Energy markets fell in love with the fragile US–Iran memorandum, sending TTF gas prices tumbling by 15% on hopes of a reopened Strait of Hormuz. But whilst diplomatic talks in Switzerland stall, Norway is quietly locking in Europe’s energy security boosting gas production🧵🇳🇴👇

Asian crude oil imports. China imports collapsed from 11 mb/d to 6 mb/d when Hormuz closed. The lowest since 2016. Asia ex-China dropped from 14-15 mb/d to 10 mb/d. Lowest in years. Combined: Asia lost roughly 10 million barrels per day of oil imports in a matter of weeks. To put that in context that's more than Saudi Arabia's entire daily production. This is why Japan paid record yen prices while receiving 57% less oil. This is why PetroChina couldn't find tankers this week. This is why India switched to US LNG in a month. Those 10 million missing barrels per day every day Hormuz was disrupted they drained inventories, depleted SPRs and left refineries running at minimum viable capacity. You can't get those lost barrels back. You can only refill from here into a market with empty storage, crippled Qatari LNG, and a Permian that's growing at half speed. The lines on this chart will recover. The inventory hole they created won't close nearly as fast. Full analysis in my latest article. Link in the comments 👇

Not sure Burnham offers real change - that will be determined by putting people before profits, welfare before warfare - but it likely marks the end of Keir Starmer, the most mendacious, unprincipled politician of recent times. Hopefully after getting booted out of Number 10, he will also leave Holborn & St. Pancras so we can elect an MP who represents us, not his billionaire & corporate donors, & Trump & Netanyahu
Saul Staniforth@SaulStaniforth

Andy Burnham: ".. I do say to my own party, this is a final chance to change. This is what people said directly to me on the hundreds of doorsteps that I stood on. We must hear it, we must act upon it & we must get it right. There will be no second chance"

Asian refiners like PetroChina are refusing to fix VLCCs at elevated Middle East Gulf rates despite Hormuz reopening, as owners push aggressive pricing and Iraqi cargo liftings remain delayed.

40 tankers carrying 80M barrels of crude are preparing to transit Hormuz following the U.S.-Iran deal. Of these, 21 are Asia-bound, including 5 to China. The potential supply surge is adding pressure to oil prices.

Israeli Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli threatened Thursday that Israel would wage war on Syria “sooner or later,” claiming that Syria and Turkiye pose a greater challenge to Israel than Iran. “We will wage war on Syria, sooner or later, because it and Turkiye are far more worrying than Iran,” Chikli said in an interview with Israeli radio station 103FM, affiliated with Maariv newspaper. US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who recently claimed that the US owes its existence to Israel, mocked the French Foreign Minister’s appeal for Israel to halt its attacks on Lebanon. Huckabee dismissed criticism from the French Foreign Minister, who had called for an end to Israeli attacks on Lebanon following drone strikes and airstrikes that have so far claimed more than 20 lives, including several children. "Last night, Israel had 4 of its soldiers killed ... ceasefire happens when Hezbollah stops shooting & killing," he tweeted.

Israel has allocated more than $40 million to influence right-wing audiences in the US amid declining support for the country and growing criticism over its role in the war against Iran, according to an Israeli media report published Thursday. Haaretz reported that Israel has significantly increased spending on public relations and influence campaigns aimed primarily at conservative Christian audiences in the US. Amit Segal@AmitSegal

Four IDF soldiers, including Battalion 52 Cmdr. Lt. Col. Dor Ben Shamchon, were killed in a Hezbollah drone strike in southern Lebanon, violating the ceasefire. The IDF launched extensive retaliatory strikes, leading Iran to cancel their Switzerland trip in protest.

This is why this MOU is meaningless. The US has absolutely no intention of abiding by it, so it becomes yet another ceasefire that isn't. Single-sided aggression that can eventually no longer be tolerated and full scale war continues.
Mohamad Safa@mhdksafa

Israel just committed massacres in Lebanon, bombing residential buildings while people asleep, violating Security Council resolution SCR 1701, the ceasefire agreement, and international law with absolutely no consequences. This is another war crime and the ICC remains silent.

A source in Pakistan's Foreign Ministry told Qatar's Al-Arabi Al-Jadid that Israeli operations in Lebanon are straining U.S.-Iran understandings and that Washington bears responsibility for pressuring Israel to stop bombing and withdraw. The planned U.S.-Iran meeting in Switzerland was postponed over disagreements on the agenda, with outstanding issues still requiring resolution before talks can begin.
