A third bike shed.
Not one.
Not two.
Three.
€336,051.30 for the Leinster House bike shelter.
Up to €100,000 reported for the National Maternity Hospital bike shed.
€127,385 for a bike shed at University Hospital Kerry.
That is a reported total of €563,436.30.
Over half a million euro.
Let that sink in.
At the same time, families like ours are begging, fundraising and pleading for help. Hospitals are under pressure. Staff are exhausted. Patients are waiting. Children and young adults are being left in pain.
Katie needs life-changing surgery. She has cerebral palsy, a dysplastic hip, twisted femur, retroverted pelvis and a labral tear. She has been left waiting while we are sent from review to review, scan to scan, appointment to appointment.
We are told there are limits.
We are told there are processes.
We are told to wait.
But there always seems to be money for the wrong things.
€563,436.30.
That could change lives.
That could fund care.
That could help patients who have already waited far too long.
Instead, families like ours are left fundraising publicly, asking strangers to help give our children the chance they should already have.
Katie should not have to rely on donations to get the surgery she needs.
Please help us get Katie to Florida. Donate if you can. Share if you can’t.
Because while they build bike sheds, Katie is still waiting.
