Marie-Antoinette was the victim of one of history's greatest identity thefts. A con artist named Jeanne de Valois-Saint-Rémy convinced a Cardinal that the Queen wanted a 2,800-carat diamond necklace but couldn't buy it openly.
The Ruse: The con artist hired a Marie Antoinette lookalike to meet Cardinal de Rohan in a dark grove at night.
The Result: Even though the Queen was completely innocent and hadn't even met the Cardinal, the public believed she had tried to defraud the crown. This scandal effectively destroyed her remaining reputation.

Heading to #SothebysGeneva is this exceptionally rare and historically important A. Lange & Söhne Grande Complication pocket watch. Completed in 1916, it is the fifth of just nine examples produced between 1901 and 1928, and the final example cased in pink gold. Notably, this Grand Complication brings together an astonishing mechanical makeup for its time, including a perpetual calendar, minute repeater, grande and petite sonnerie, moon phases and split-seconds chronograph in a single watch.
