Here’s a 100% intervention free drive with Teslas Full Self Driving. 10 years ago I thought self driving cars would never be a thing in my lifetime yet here we are.

It’s now April 2026 and the FSD in my 2019 Model 3 is still better than the ADAS in every brand new non-Tesla you can buy.

Waymo partnered with @Hyundai to build a robotaxi that comes straight out of Hyundai's factory. It should drastically lower @Waymo's vehicle cost, standardize the platform, and allow them to ramp up volume quickly. No word on production volume or pricing but it will be in production by the end of the year, according to Hyundai's team.

@wholemars that's why it kind of makes sense. xAI has all this compute and found an immediate great use case!

It’s great to see SpaceX getting serious about the coding use case. This is the #1 most valuable use case for these models right now, and Grok has never been a serious part of the story as Codex and Claude Code have taken the world by storm. At the same time, I can’t remember the last time I opened Cursor. I think I may still have a monthly subscription, but I should probably cancel it honestly. Cursor’s previous UI metaphor of an IDE with LLMs has quickly become outdated as the models have become good enough to just do all the code editing for you with a simple prompt and minimal review. The IDE is going extinct. Cursor has now tried to pivot into a more claude code / codex style interface, but that hasn’t caught on over first party coding harnesses designed perfectly to work with the model. It feels like xAI is trying to get competitive in the coding agents space and cursor is trying to stay relevant. Maybe by teaming up they can better take on the giants in the space, but neither are in a position of particular strength right now. But perhaps vertical integration between the model and the dev tools is exactly what they both need.

@sspencer_smb it’s hard to imagine them being competitive training their own models without someone like SpaceX behind them

@wholemars i thought cursor built their own coding model on par with claude but they lacked the GPUs to run it?

OK this could actually work. Makes much more sense than Cursor trying to train its own models in house.
SpaceX@SpaceX

SpaceXAI and @cursor_ai are now working closely together to create the world’s best coding and knowledge work AI. The combination of Cursor’s leading product and distribution to expert software engineers with SpaceX’s million H100 equivalent Colossus training supercomputer will allow us to build the world’s most useful models. Cursor has also given SpaceX the right to acquire Cursor later this year for $60 billion or pay $10 billion for our work together.

@wholemars I recently switched back to Cursor from Claude code - Cursor 3 is essentially the same as Claude code but with multi-model support

What SpaceX+Cursor need to do is sell an Agentic harness that is as capable as Claude Code/CODEX, but make it FAR LESS intimidating. The reality is that these harnesses from the big companies are super-capable agents where coding is a FRACTION of what they can do. I literally use Claude Code to write my books. It costs a shit ton of tokens and is an extremely customized process that has learned literally everything about me, my content, my style, my knowledge, etc. But this use case is a FRACTION of what it can do. And the fact Claude Code has the word "code" in it, and the fact that the UI/Terminal view is not really optimized to remove the intimidation that comes along with it, means that VERY FEW PEOPLE understand what it's capable of and will even TRY to use it. I'm at an AI conference this week and it's blowing my mind how big the knowledge gap is between what these tools are capable of and what they're actively being used for. It's also blowing my mind just how early we are in the scaling of compute + the demand this whole thing is going to generate. Insanely gigantic opportunity beyond words.

@wholemars My Y is in for service and they gave me a Cyberbeast as a loaner. First time I have been in one. Extremely impressive. Feels like you are in the Millenium Falcon. Smooth on FSD and the steer-by-wire is amazing.
