Malaysia is one of our biggest gas partners in the region, and we’re working with partners like PETRONAS to secure our fuel supply and support Australian industry. Together, we’ll make sure Australia is ready for what comes next.

We’ve just secured an extra 100 million litres of diesel for Australia.

With conflict in the Middle East impacting Australia, we must shore up our fuel supply. That’s why Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim and I have agreed a Joint Statement on Energy Security to help keep fuel flowing between our countries. More than ever, it’s important we work with our international partners to make sure Australia has the fuel it needs. Because our number one priority is delivering for Australians.

Our focus is on securing the fuel Australia needs.

Together we are strengthening our fuel and food security and strengthening the economies in our region.

Brunei is an important supplier of fuel and fertiliser for Australia. And while the war in the Middle East is impacting Australians at home, we’re making sure goods keep flowing between our two countries. Today, His Majesty Hassanal Bolkiah and I have agreed a Joint Statement on Energy and Food Security to ensure these supplies remains secure. Because in uncertain times, our focus is on supporting Australians.

The fertiliser from Brunei helps grow the food we buy, and drive our economy. That's why I'm here, to help secure what our farmers need to keep Australia moving. While the war in the Middle East continues to impact supply in Australia, it is more important than ever that we work closely with our neighbours.

In 1945, Australian soldiers fought alongside Bruneians to liberate the country from occupation. Today, I paid my respects to those who lost their lives in the pursuit of freedom. This memorial remains a powerful reminder of the enduring ties between our two nations.

Now more than ever, we have to work with our international partners to deliver for Australians back home. I’m in Brunei to help secure our fuel and fertiliser supply, and to keep Australia moving.

My heartfelt condolences to everyone mourning the passing of Trish Crossin. As a teacher in remote schools, Trish dedicated herself to bringing new opportunities to the people of the Northern Territory. She brought that same determination and those same values to the Senate. As the first woman to represent the NT in Parliament, Trish was a trailblazer. But what drove her was making that trail easier for future generations to follow. Trish served her community, our party and the parliament with strength, decency and pride. May she rest in eternal peace.

Social cohesion isn’t something we take for granted. It’s something we build together, through respect and understanding. His Excellency Sheikh Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa is in Australia, supporting our strong and diverse Muslim community and the values that bring us together. A global voice for interfaith dialogue, and a leader in the fight against extremism and hate, his work continues to bring people together across faiths and cultures. There is no higher honour than serving our country. Today we’re announcing new leadership across the Australian Defence Force. We thank Admiral David Johnston and Lieutenant General Simon Stuart for their decades of service and leadership. All Australians owe a debt to those who serve and protect our country.

Today, Prime Minister @LawrenceWongST and I agreed to make maximum efforts to deliver energy security for both our nations. Because the war in the Middle East might be a long way from here, but it’s having impacts across our region. And the best way to deal with this is by working together, as partners and neighbours.

A quarter of Australia’s fuel comes from refineries in Singapore. That’s why I’m here, working with our international partners to keep fuel flowing for Australians. Because when things are uncertain around the world, strong relationships with our neighbours matter more than ever.
