@nagoyan2gou @ButcherWilliam I spent years with Orthodoxy they are just as developed as Catholicism without so many thorns. I expect they are better suited to the Japanese than Catholicism.

@CAPtheLEGEND @ButcherWilliam 東方正教会の典礼は美しいですね。私はプロテスタントの福音派ですが、正教会のもっている儀礼の美しさにはとても関心があります。

@nagoyan2gou @ButcherWilliam We have 1600 years head start to be fair.
You should experience the Eastern Orthodox Liturgy if you can, in my opinion it is more beautiful and advanced than Catholic in many ways.
They call it the Divine Liturgy for a reason.

@CAPtheLEGEND @nagoyan2gou God has been working many miracles in my life. He has filled me with strength and conviction to quit nicotine, marijuana, and alcohol. He has also really allowed me to be at peace with Him. Thank you very much for your support and advice, but I am not a Catholic. Sorry!

He's saying they want to be seen by others, this is desirable because they were doing it in a city where everyone was hyper religious and so being seen to be holy would be celebrated.
Praying in front of a world full atheists and non believers who will scorn and persecute you for it is a bit different.
But bible quoting midwits dont understand context or nuance.
I wonder if it occurs to them that all of their condemnation of thus prayer is awful and its doubtful Jesus would approve of what theyre doing. Just kidding of course they dont. Theyre not thinking theyre too busy attacking other people with misunderstood scripture and patting themselves on the back.
English

“When you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites… who love to be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward” (Matt. 6:5).
“They do all their deeds to be seen by others. For they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long…” (Matt. 23:5)

In complete silence, Pope Leo lies prostrate in St. Peter’s Basilica as the Good Friday Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord begins.
English

@texpatriot79 @SOLIS_LUMINA @WWUTTcom Surely you cant think this is the whole meaning. A parent shows a child how to pray by doing it with them and in front of them. This is condemned by Jesus? Lol
English

@SOLIS_LUMINA @WWUTTcom That's not the scriptural point at all? Its about not making a show out of prayer...laying face down in front of the world is peak making a show out of prayer.

Penal substitutionary atonement is often described as the Father pouring out wrath on the Son. But the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are never opposed to one another. Can God punish God? Can He pour out wrath or be angry? Some argue the Father abandoned the Son- completely separated from one another. How would this ever be possible? Can God the Father separate himself from God the Son and still be the trinity?

@oliverburdick List of saints who did not ask Mary for intercession:

From Canon Law:
Can. 917 A person who has already received the Most Holy Eucharist can receive it a second time on the same day only within the eucharistic celebration in which the person participates, without prejudice to the prescript of can. 921, §2.
Your priest misled you. It is not only not frowned upon, it is encouraged.
Its the same in Orthodoxy.
English

Caution.
Receiving the Communion twice in one day is frowned upon.
I did it once as an early convert not understanding: I went to two Catholic masses (one Latin the other Eastern-Ukrainian) same day.
My priest wasn't pleased after when he found out but it's not the end of the world. I did it as part of the Mass so it was acceptable.
Generally, the only time one should take communion twice in a day is if they are in danger of death and seeking Last Rites.
I strongly suggest you speak to your parish priest, inform him of your plans, and follow his advice.
God bless you. Happy Easter.
English

Tonight I am going to go to my first Easter Vigil as an already confirmed Catholic. Then Easter tomorrow.
Last year I was confirmed and took my first communion as a Catholic convert at the Easter Vigil.
One of the years before that I went to my Non-Denom Easter special concert with a 30ft high cross made out of speakers that they rose up as the band ran out after the 6 min. movie trailer led up to the big surprise.
I cannot tell you how happy I am that I am Catholic.
In case you guys wanted to see that my non-denom church actually did this. These are the type of people that will call Catholics performative or snicker at our liturgy, yet actually do these abominable Easter services.

@Bananabuton It doesnt look to me that Shinto is wrong about much. It may be incomplete, but it's respectable that it stops where it does, many religions charge past that point into fantasy, at the expense of humility and reality.

@Dr_FathyMahdy @Adam_FaithfulM When a baby is upset and strikes its mother with its tiny little hands she does not retaliate, the child's mistake vanishes into her mercy.
When should the strong not defend themselves?
English

@Adam_FaithfulM How can he be God if he cannot defend himself and is crucified? And why would he be crucified for the sins of others? Is it just for people to commit wrongs and for someone else to be crucified in their place? I’ve asked this many times and haven’t found an answer.
English

In 1986, the American Medical Association published an article titled "The Physical Death of Jesus Christ". It details the entire process of Jesus' trial to His death on the cross.
In Luke 22, before Jesus is arrested, it is written that He was in great distress & sweating blood. Although rare, it is recognized as Hematidrosis, a condition caused by high levels of stress.
At the time, the crucifixion was considered the worst death for the worst of criminals. But this is not all Jesus faced. He endured whipping so severe that it tore the flesh from His body. He was beaten so horribly that His face was torn & His beard ripped.
A crown of thorns, 2-3 inches long cut deeply into His scalp. The leather whip used to flog Him had tiny iron balls & sharp bones. The balls caused internal injuries while the sharp bones ripped open His flesh. His skeletal muscles, veins, & bowels are exposed, causing major blood loss. Most men do not survive this kind of torture. After Jesus was severely flogged, He was forced to carry His cross while people mocked & spat on Him.
Crucifixion was a process meant to instill excruciating pain, creating a slow & agonizing death. Nails as long as 8 inches were driven into Jesus' wrists & feet. The Roman soldiers knew the tendons in the wrists would tear & break, forcing Jesus to use His back muscles to support Himself to breathe. Imagine the struggle, the pain, the courage...Jesus endured this reality for 3 hours!
The Gospel of John writes that after Jesus' death, a Roman soldier pierced His side with a spear & blood & water came out. Scientists explain that from hypovolemic shock, the rapid heart rate causes fluid to gather in the sack around the lungs & heart. The accumulation of fluid in the membrane around the heart is called a Pericardial effusion & the lungs is called a pleural effusion.
To the world, Christianity is as foolish as it can get. They believe it's for the weak. But when you are confronted by the reality of the cross, it's clearly not a pretty sight. It is brutal & horrific.
This is the weight Jesus carried. The weight of the sins of the world, all so that we can live. God's wrath is fully satisfied in Jesus. This is what it took. Repent & believe! Jesus is “God among us” in the flesh. Jesus is our Savior. Jesus loves you so much that He went through this spiritual and physical punishment for your sins and mine.
Jesus is the LORD, Almighty God, Everlasting Father.
Thank You, Jesus.

@dairioutou And Judas problematized people's personal autonomous choices for what to do with their money on the grounds that he thought he knew better what they should do with it, and was corrected by Christ for this.
They're literally behaving like Judas and can't see it.

Jesús fue el primer socialista porque predicó sobre la igualdad, luchó contra la codicia y criticó a los ricos. En cambio, Judas, egoísta y codicioso, fue el primer capitalista, al punto que vendió a Cristo por unas monedas de plata. #JesusDeNazareth

@ButcherWilliam @nagoyan2gou The big 4:
Pray
Read
Give
Liturgy
If you lean in and do all of them daily and weekly with a contrite heart, the Holy Spirit WILL strengthen you and will begin to lift you up. Do not be afraid, trust in the Lord.
I recommend the rosary.
English

@nagoyan2gou It's a daily struggle but I've been reading the Bible daily this past few weeks and I've been praying every morning. It's a struggle and it won't be easy, but it's incredibly important.
