I met with the Illinois Department of Insurance Director, Ann Gillespie, to discuss the Republicans’ refusal to extend the ACA’s enhanced premium tax credits Without them, Illinoisans with an ACA plan will see a nearly 80% average cost increase for their health insurance. This is unacceptable.

Health care premiums will increase by over 100% next year. Nursing homes and rural hospitals are going to close. We are in a health care crisis, and the House of Representatives must come back to work today to solve it.

Americans are fed up with this Administration that has done nothing to address the skyrocketing cost of health care—or anything else. But President Trump is too busy building his ballroom to notice.

Donald Trump promised you lower prices. Instead, by shutting down the government and refusing to extend health care tax credits, he is poised to inflict the “worst year-over-year price hike” on Americans’ health insurance premiums next year. All while building a grand new ballroom for himself.

Pres. Trump has illegally frozen & cut billions of dollars in NIH-approved medical research that gives patients hope. This week, I offered an amendment to reinstate unjustly terminated NIH research—restoring critical funding to find new cures and treatments. Republicans voted it down.

Taking health insurance away from 17 million families and closing rural hospitals is a helluva way to make America great.

I just voted NO on Republicans’ so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill.”   There’s nothing “beautiful” about slashing health care coverage for 17 million Americans, closing rural hospitals, and taking food off the table for children, seniors, and veterans.

Senate Democrats held 100+ hearings and discussions to produce the Affordable Care Act. 40 million Americans gained health care. Republicans are holding no hearings, no markups, and no public discussions on the Big Ugly Bill. 16 million Americans will lose health care.
