I find the whole ‘serial loser’ thing that’s labelled at James Tavernier embarrassing and untrue. Context is key: Tavernier has delivered so many legendary moments for the club and obviously he should’ve won more trophies, but that’s not his fault he’s had poor players around him, who haven’t been able to match his effort and breathtaking footballing ability. The captain has bailed the team out time and time again over the years, and deserves so much credit for how brilliant he’s been for the club. If you put Barry Ferguson in some of the teams Tav has played in - he most likely would’ve won the same number of trophies. Make no mistake about it, Tavernier leaving at the end of the season is a blow and he’ll be very difficult to replace.
