Through strengthened collaboration, community driven action, and sustained advocacy, ECEWS remains committed to supporting Nigeria’s path to a malaria free future

The day concluded with a State Press Briefing led by Prof. George O. Ugwu, the Honorable Commissioner for Health, reaffirming the commitment of government and partners to intensify coordinated efforts toward reducing the malaria burden and advancing national elimination targets.

As part of activities commemorating World Malaria Day 2026, @ECEWS, in collaboration with @enugusmoh and the National Malaria Elimination Programme, led a citywide malaria awareness walk across Enugu.

@ECEWS joined an awareness walk in Uyo to mark #WorldMalariaDay2026, organized by @ibomairlines Air. From Ibom Plaza to UniUyo, the walk featured public sensitisation, health education, and aerobics, mobilising communities to prevent malaria. Together, we can #EndMalaria.

ECEWS, working with the @enugusmoh and @NMEPNigeria, with support from @isdb_group and @LLF_fund, has delivered life-saving #malaria services across 547 communities in Enugu State. This is what impact looks like, children protected, mothers supported, and families kept safe.

By supporting initiatives like this, we are not only helping to ease immediate financial burdens but also contributing to sustainable livelihoods for women who continue to demonstrate strength in the face of adversity.

At ECEWS, we recognize that economic strengthening is a critical pathway to dignity, independence, and long-term resilience.

ECEWS was honored to be part of the Mary Slessor - Akan Glo Foundation (MASLAG) Widows’ Empowerment Programme held today in Uyo, themed “Empowering Widows: From Resilience to Leadership.”

ECEWS remains committed to driving sustainable economic strengthening outcomes by working hand-in-hand with government and partners to reach those who need it most.

Through this collaboration, thousands of vulnerable households have received critical financial support, enhancing economic resilience, improving access to basic needs, and fostering pathways to self-reliance.
