@HerbPetry I understand that. Specific to Oregon, they weren’t in the Big Ten in ‘23.

@cmoon1992 Maybe you missed this in your detailed review of the facts. The judge in the Sorsby injunction was a retired judge from Tarrant County, aka Ft Worth, which is 300 miles from Lubbock.

Sorsby's lawyers were not attacking NCAA's ability to prosecute for gambling violations. In Sorsby's case, they argued the athlete's mental condition diagnosed by a medical professional should be considered for mitigation of penalties. Historically, the NCAA at times, acts without transparency and consistency in enforcement cases. There are scores of examples. In this case, the NCAA said it did not find any mitigating factors. Under the NCAA's own rules, they're supposed to consider mitigating factors. That's what helped Sorsby win -- for now. Retired judge from Metroplex --hundreds of miles from West Texas with no TT affiliation -- made the decision. Although the decision came in Lubbock County, the case was assigned to an administrative judge for the entire district (Kenneth Curry) after original Tech-aligned judge recused himself. That said, I was floored by the decision.

@LancePisciotta Yes indeed! haha! I need a sarcasm indicator on here. I've seen and heard so much ignorance today that I'm jaded.

SEC softball coaches did this “quietly” this past season with Tech
Ross Dellenger@RossDellenger

Big 12 ADs tell @YahooSports they’ve had “serious” talks on not playing Texas Tech. One SEC AD says there should be conversations about not playing Tech “in any sports.” The Brendan Sorsby ruling has left an industry jarred. “It’s total f***** bullshit.” bit.ly/4uWicN7

"I think there needs to be serious conversations about not playing Texas Tech in any sports," Georgia athletic director @Brooks_UGA , a member of the NCAA Football Oversight Committee, told Yahoo Sports. "This is not about Texas Tech. It's about protecting our own locker room. We cannot in good conscience put our student-athletes on a field where the competitive integrity of the contest is compromised and overridden by the courts. If a state court wants to dictate eligibility rules, they can play themselves.

This is all you need to know about the state of affairs. Cody Campbell says “I’m doing everything I can to fix it.” Who asked him to fix anything? The only reason he’s in the mix is because he is a billionaire willing to spend a lot of lineup to “fix” things for his alma mater. He and Texas Tech could say they will not give Sorsby a scholarship or any NIL money. Don’t hold your breath. They don’t want to fix anything, they want to break everything. And Congress is more than happy to do his bidding at the expense of a workable solution.

@AUFanInNC42 Every bit of what you say is fair. I’m just reacting to the phrasing “local judge” as it is incorrect.

@gus26 I don't even care where the judge is from. If the NCAA doesn't sanction Texas Tech or say they will keep them out of the postseason for a decade if Sorsby plays, they should just go home.

@edmathey47 You’re from Chicago and your judge couldn’t find anything wrong with Shoeless Joe and Cicotte throwing a World Series. I think you need to sit down. 😂😂😂
