AMC needs to clean house if it wants to survive. AMC expanded operations when it should have consolidated them. Instead of using the $1 billion in surplus cash to consolidate poor performing locations and fortify stronger locations, it expanded. Even as Hollywood went on multiple strikes and studios started selling off, AMC couldn’t read the room. More strikes, less studios, less films. This is why AMC continues issuing stock to raise funds which has eroded its value to $1. Its finances are so bad that it had to sell its own stock investments to get access to more cash. Deferring debt will only take you so far. Eventually you’ll have to pay. It’s time to shrink the company and re-evaluate corporate leadership.
