Kids have to learn to struggle, persevere & fight their way out of adversity. You can pay to put them on every kind of competitive team, get them a trainer/equipment/extra practice, but if they can’t claw their way past troubles that WILL come, they’ll never develop as people!

Theres 2 reasons why elementary students should not lose recess because they didn't turn in HW. 1. Recess is essential – Kids need it for focus, behavior, and well-being. Taking it away hurts more than it helps. 2. Elementary kids shouldn’t have homework – It offers little benefit. Play and reading matter more.

My own kids never came home talking about teachers who were creative or innovative.  (And these are great things.)  But they consistently talked about teachers who had high expectations, who loved teaching, and who strived to connect with their students.

Grades are neither rewards nor punishments to be given or earned. They are progress to be recorded and reported. Are we communicating learning, or are we gatekeeping? We can do better. #Project180

Culture isn't what you say - it's what you allow. • Allow excuses? You'll get more. • Allow bad attitudes? They will spread. • Allow selfishness? Team chemistry will disappear. Great leaders set the standard. Culture happens every day - on purpose or by accident.

It's Tuesday or rather CHOOSE-day... Choose "that one kid" you have in your class & make a meaningful connection about something unrelated to school. Choose to be a "Don't worry, I got you." adult before a "Now I got you!" one. The choices are always ours to choose on any day

Reminder for Adults in schools: It's Monday & mistakes will be made- By your kids By your peers By your leaders By you. Greet them with grace. Each one is learning opportunity & we all want learning to be grace-full & blame-free. That's how we all get better.
