To all the crypto bros who drank the stablecoin Kool-Aid: stop pretending payments margins can replace casino margins. In 2025, Solana apps generated $2.4B in revenue and the base layer captured another $1.4B in fees and MEV. That is $3.8B of total ecosystem fee capture in one year. Almost all of it from people paying to trade volatility. Trading bots charging 0.8% to 1.5% per swap. DEX pools taking 0.3%. Priority fees and Jito tips stacking on top. You can charge 1% when someone is chasing a 50x or panic selling a 90% loss. Nobody blinks. Stablecoins are the inverse. You are moving a non-volatile dollar from A to B, and the market will not pay 1% for that. Onchain stablecoin pools already price at 0.01% to 0.05%. So to recreate 2025 Solana economics with stablecoin volume at 0.05%, you would need $7.6 trillion. At 0.01%, you would need $38 trillion. $7.6 trillion is more than all US credit card spending in 2025, and roughly 35% of total American consumer spending. $38 trillion is nearly 3x what Visa processes globally in a year. Just to break even with what one chain generated from memecoin chaos. Stablecoins are a better product. But the memecoin casino was funding an entire ecosystem’s R&D. What funds it next?
