Our students become what they see, and at Southwind High, they’re seeing greatness in action. Through a partnership with Boeing, students participated in an in-class fireside chat with VP Markeeva Morgan, who shared real-life experiences that shaped his drive, perspective, and daily motivation. Students from Craigmont High School recently had the opportunity to use their skills to see a project from problem to solution. Through design thinking, students dug deep to understand real challenges presented by business partners, brainstormed innovative ideas, and built solutions. Through Teamship — a reimagined internship experience — Craigmont students collaborated in small teams to tackle real-world problems with the guidance of expert coaches, building the confidence and skills they’ll carry into future internships and beyond.

Growing up comes with big decisions that can be tough, but our seniors are not facing them alone. Adulting 101 provides MSCS seniors a powerful head start on life before graduation. From learning how to budget, build credit and invest to exploring careers, apprenticeships, and college pathways, this experience was all about preparing students for the real world with confidence and purpose. With the support of Shelby County Trustee Regina Morrison Newman and incredible community partners, students connected with experts, discovered new opportunities, and gained the tools they need to thrive beyond the classroom. Superintendent Dr. Roderick Richmond shared, "This was more than an event; it was a reflection of our commitment to ensuring every student is ready for life. With our district-wide TCAP Pep Rally set for Saturday, schools across the district didn’t miss the chance to make today count by hosting their own celebrations as one final push of encouragement. Today, we stopped by Caldwell-Guthrie, Bethel Grove, and Balmoral-Ridgeway elementary schools to experience the energy firsthand.

Students across the district who participate in Student Congress wrapped up the year with their final meeting. During the session, they heard from district leaders about their futures, and Superintendent Dr. Roderick Richmond shared a message on stepping up to the plate and practicing leadership both in their schools and across the Memphis community. Families Connect is a program designed to bridge our school communities and families. Recently, parents at @KHSFalcons participated in a graduation ceremony celebrating their milestone. These parents completed multiple sessions on topics such as PowerSchool, social media safety, and much more. Through these workshops, our families will be better equipped to navigate with an English-speaking learning environment.
