🌍 IGBO IN DIASPORA: CHILE EBOE-OSUJI 🖤
Born in Añara, Isiala Mbano, Imo State, Chile Eboe-Osuji became the 4th President of the International Criminal Court in The Hague in 2018, the first African to hold the position.
He served a full 9 year term as ICC judge from 2012 to 2021, presiding over some of the most high profile cases in international law including the trials of senior Kenyan officials. During his presidency he personally led the effort to keep African nations from withdrawing from the court, flying across the continent to meet heads of state one on one.
Before the ICC he served as Legal Advisor to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva and as senior prosecutor at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.
He now sits as a judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice, sworn in April 2025. He has taught law at Stanford, Harvard, UCLA and the University of Toronto.
