The United States was at war. The drones came anyway. According to a confidential briefing document leaked to ABC News, the drones displayed non-commercial signal characteristics, long-range control links, and resistance to jamming. If you're getting caught on the "attack" language: parse it as you like, but these were multi-hour, multi-day incursions that the Air Force could not stop despite trying pretty hard to do so. You don't shutter your nuclear-armed base in wartime for some hobbyist overflight.

It was global news when Ukraine attacked Russia by smuggling drones deep inside its territory. This sure looks like an adversary signaling that they are willing and able to do the same to us.
