Multiple Optima run schools terminated their management contracts with her nonprofit in 2023 after audits flagged faulty accounting (she’s an accountant so that’s weird) citing messed-up records on debts, textbooks, revenues, vendor invoices, and county funds. School leaders blamed Optima & educational Erica for the failures. Those same contracts conveniently switched to Donalds’ own FOR-PROFIT companies (OptimaEd and Optima Management Services, where she owns the majority share). Tax filings show the schools funneled roughly 30% of their public funding ($35 million between 2020-2023) to firms tied to her and related vendors. One school sued her foundation, alleging undisclosed side deals with a construction company (no competitive bids), unreturned property, and subcontracting staff against board wishes. There’s also the Fort Myers disaster (Optima Classical Academy Gladiolus). Well documented. Lots of info on that $10 million scam. I see her educational expertise as self-dealing, poor oversight, mismanagement endeavor while leaving families holding the bag. Of course the Donalds machine always manages to cash in at taxpayers expense………..Floridian taxpayers. Taxpayers and parents deserve real accountability from the Donalds family. So………….is this what you consider educational expertise? Or an expert on how to run an educational scam? It’s not acceptable & Florida doesn’t need this family in the Governor’s office.
