@TertiusIII@GodlessEngineer Modern and ancient translators alike are biased and they let their biases show through everywhere. And if I said I was inspired by the Holy Spirit, you wouldn't think twice to discount my claim... what makes it so different with any other scripture author?
Glad to know that you think you know more about how to translate ἀρσενοκοῖται than virtually all modern translators.
PS. A HUMAN disciple inspired by the HOLY SPIRIT! He even told us explicitly that what he wrote in 1Cor was inspired by the Spirit.
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.
1Cor 2:13
So no. No personal axe to grind here. Just scripture. I stand with the inspired scriptures.
Jesus had a lot to say. Love your enemies. Sell your possessions. Do not judge. Feed the poor. He talked about money more than almost anything else.
You know what he never once mentioned? Homosexuality. Not a single word in any of the four gospels. Even Christian scholars admi…
@thunderbrd1@GodlessEngineer The actual performance of masturbation isn't mentioned in the Bible, but it does say that sexual acts are meant for both people in a marriage. 1 Corinthians 7:3-5 says that a person's body belongs to their spouse.
@Buckeye451973@GodlessEngineer It's not my place to concern myself with what they wish to do but I think that there are $ motivations from surgeons and the med industry to invite them to. I understand why they feel 'trapped' in the wrong body but yeah it's better to grow to accept yourself as you are.
@thunderbrd1@GodlessEngineer OK, I would love to see that, but if that is true, trans people are born with perfectly normal bodies, they are LITERALLY born that way......but yet I bet you're ok with them taking hormones and surgeries......
@rock4theKing@GodlessEngineer It also says to cut off your hand if you ever masturbate. I wonder how many handless dudes would be walking around right now... you think maybe at least 99%?
@TertiusIII@GodlessEngineer That Corinthians reference is highly doubtworthy that it may actually be translated as homosexuality, as are the other 2 references to it in the bible, both from the same HUMAN disciple. Bit of a personal axe to grind there I think.
You don’t know if Jesus said anything about it or not. The Bible just doesn’t record Him saying anything directly about it, though He does say:
“‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
Mt 19:5-6
Be that as it may, the rest of the Bible is quite clear about it.
You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Lev 18:22
and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
Rom 1:27
Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality, nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
1Cor 6:9-10
@Buckeye451973@GodlessEngineer Well, except that research studies have shown people are born gay or not, and that the genetic component carries on as passable traits. Soooo this means God WANTS some people to suffer if it's actually 'evil'. So much for a loving Deity.
@GodlessEngineer It was already considered bad, why would he mention it?
Did he mention necrophilia? Is it now ok?
Incest? Bestiality?
Just because you love gays doesn’t mean Jesus has to be ok with it
@GodlessEngineer It WAS mentioned in the Old Testament, but then it also said there that if you pleasured yourself you should literally cut off your hand. Like... I thought they were at war mostly with their own goats.
@GodlessEngineer Looked that up the other day and IF it's even talking about homosexuality, it was only one disciple who had a ... shall we say ... bone ... to pick with homosexuality. Mentioned some 3 times and that is even debateable given the use of the language in its original description.
@YourAnonNews Also, our greatest passtimes involve chasing balls with complex rules to justify who gets to chase them and when. At least dogs and cats tend to keep it simpler than that and cats display the ability to tire of ball chasing much faster than humans do who can become obsessed.
@tommypens@Zack_magaig His response to the housing crisis was epic. Saved millions of home owners and infused the entire economy with a dramatic recovery in the process. Certainly made my life directly better in every way.
@mkwlbert2552@highbrow_nobrow Completely agree with whoever blocked me after this comment... so not sure why they did - maybe they didn't see the irony I was pointing at.
"Trump is a Godly man. He’s working for God. He really cares about us. He cares about what happens to us. He didn’t come in there because he wanted money. He is actually working for God...and God is on his side."
- Trump supporter on President Trump.
@EastEndJoe Believing that because someone died during his assassination attempt that must mean that someone was really trying to kill Trump, even though the whole thing was rigged like a poor theater performance.
@EastEndJoe God. Bringing God into it makes it obvious we're not dealing with logical people on this matter or any other. I believe in a God, just not one that would side with Trump.
This is called Messianic Projection:
The person has transferred their need for a divine protector onto a political figure. Trump isn't just a president to them, he's a vessel for God's will. This is called "political messianism" when a leader becomes a sacred figure rather than a public servant.
