The constant wave of exploits we're seeing now is becoming truly exhausting. To be honest, I'm disgusted. My $5000 USDC+ position on reflectmoney is now worth almost nothing because of their exposure to the Drift hack. It's a heartbreaking reality for the DeFi space. We're no longer just dealing with simple code bugs - we're seeing highly sophisticated, coordinated attacks that create massive ripple effects. When a foundational protocol gets hit, it wipes out smaller projects and innocent users who didn't even realize they had that secondary exposure. I'm fortunate that this won't affect me much at all as this is a very tiny % of my entire DeFi portfolio, but that isn't by accident. I've worked hard to build a specific plan designed to minimize losses in situations exactly like this. By strictly diversifying my entire stable portfolio across dozens of different protocols, I've essentially insured myself against the "house of cards" effect. The yield that I get out of my entire portfolio can cover this back in just few months. But most people aren't positioned to manage risk this way, and seeing "stable" assets vanish is exactly what drives both retail and web3 users away for good. It's sad to see the space I love struggle with this level of fragility, and it's a reminder that in DeFi, your risk management plan is just as important as the yield and airdrop you're chasing.

my $5000 worth of stablecoin is now worth basically nothing 🥲

@Defriedshallots 100%. I have not shared much and try to keep my mouth shut each time I have the urge to share just because I'll be the one to get blamed when shits happened I also have web2 friends who were hit hard by both defi and Cefi during Luna UST and nv come back ever to crypto

yeaaa I really hate to see this as well I've been very excited about the possibilities of DeFi and want to share it to my friends and family But seeing the frequent exploits we're getting it's rly difficult For small everyday users like me, if risk isn't managed properly, it would take forever to recuperate if we get hit by these For me I choose to create my anchor positions only in well established protocols that have been through cycles

when i lived in cambodia, i used to hoop with an expat community. the competition was fierce - most of these guys had played for good tier teams in their home countries - so it was always a good game. one night we went out to a restaurant, things took a turn. a simple communication mix-up happened with the local staff due to language barrier, and suddenly, a few guys in the group started verbally abusing them. they were shouting vulgarities and calling the staff "stupid" over a minor mistake. 1) english isn't their native language. 2) we were guests in their country. i was so disgusted by the lack of basic respect that i cut ties with the group right then and there. after a decade of living overseas and observing expat circles, i’ve noticed a recurring theme. when people land high-paying roles in developing economies, the "expat bubble" starts to warp their perspective. they mistake a fat paycheck and a lower cost of living for a boost in social hierarchy. it’s easy to let a big salary go to your head when you're suddenly living like royalty, but it doesn't give you a pass to treat people as "lesser than." money should buy you comfort, not a license to be arrogant. if your paycheck grows but your character shrinks, you aren't "leveling up" - you're just losing yourself in the exchange rate. stay humble.

@N1cryptoholic @ether_fi yes I used to use only cdc, I've spent so much using their cards that I got back all my staking money from just cashback over the year (I sold when it's went up few x after accumulation) the perks have also changed over the years so it's not very attractive for old users anymore

what crypto card would you recommend in the market right now? I'm currently using 3 myself but would like to explore more outside of these 1. @ether_fi Don't need any token lockup for the lowest tier that comes with 3% cashback in ETH, 1% in fx fee outside of usd, always have campaign to get back 10%+ cashback for restaurant and grocery txn. Very easy to top up with crypto 2. @useTria I have the highest premium tier which I subscribed to $225 annually, 6% cashback but distribution is every 3 months (I've accumulated $537 so far but still waiting to get the 1st batch of cashback back), 1 % in visa fx fees. I top up with crypto, very straightforward. 3. @cryptocom I have my card since 2018 and was the 1st batch of people to get it, you need $5k cro to lock or pay $300 annually to get the green tier that I have. It gives you 3% cashback in CRO and it comes with 4 free airport lounges annually, you also get $800 free atm withdrawal and some perks like 6 months free spotify and netflix. I always top up with debit bank card (0 fx fee when using 7 currencies) visa fx rate is exceptionally good, sometimes I get rate even better than the rate on Google (I've 5 cards in my family)

@sagar2803 @ether_fi Most projects have entry level cards but the incentives are definitely not as attractive as ethfi from what I know

@Usoppu @ether_fi The EtherFi one is interesting purely because of the no lockup requirement. Most cards make you hold their token to unlock anything decent which defeats the purpose.

@Defriedshallots yea i wrote something related to this before like you can still have exposure by dabbling in defi and whatnot but don't need to risk your portfolio by trading with 10x leverage etc

thats the ultimate goal, earn enough from crypto and get the fook outta here. go travel the world, pick up new skills, volunteer, learn languages, read a lot, spend time and hang out with your fam and loved ones etc There’s so so so much more to life than chasing even more millions, only to risk losing everything you have built up during this process
funcry@funcry

i have a friend who made close to $3M from crypto a year ago, and the moment he told me he was out, he never mentioned crypto to me again. he has 3 kids, spends all his time with his family, and every time I see him I can feel it, he’s living a dream life.
