@dreamsofcode_io Anthropic already did? It's this little thing called Claude Code maybe you heard about it
English

@dreamsofcode_io They don't need a product though. It's just Claude Code organized properly
English

@dreamsofcode_io Yes, it’s called Claude Code, you should give it a try, heard great things.
English

@dreamsofcode_io If this becomes true, we're closing the gap on language awareness as AI writes and we trust.
"I built this app in Rails, now make serve all requests as fast as possible, adjust Cloud Formation as you see fit, if you change database providers, ensure you migrate all data"
English

If this were on the cards, I would have expected Anthropic to go much more all-in on languages like Python over JS. JS/TS is probably bigger in terms of developer usage, but a lot more people out there learn a bit of Python as part of their degree or career than JS. Whoever captures those people, and can bring their chicken-scratch code and workflows into their ecosystems (or even just integrate with them enough to make them faster and more readable), they would be the ones I would back.
I can definitely see Anthropic using this as a marketing badge of honour for Opus models though, especially if they are targeting devs specifically.

@dreamsofcode_io This is wayy above my skill level. Would it be more prudent to port to an agent first language (Vercels days old Zero for example) to be more forward thinking? Not like today but soon. Agent language w an abstraction for human intervention and oversight?
English

@dreamsofcode_io aws transform mainly exists for cobol where the devs are gone, bun to rust is more of a perf thing and both languages have plenty of devs
English

@dreamsofcode_io You think rewrite as a service could be a thing? Technically with LLMs anything can be a thing, but out of the box solution, you doubt that.
English

@dreamsofcode_io If this ends up happening, there will be a new wave of rewrite slopification practiced by noobs, hence destroying the ideology again
English

@dreamsofcode_io Yea looks like it it is just i think the first version will be like baeldung.com/java-openrewri… (same language)then yea the holy grail cross language
English

@dreamsofcode_io the hard part of rewrites isnt the translation its the stuff nobody wrote down. every codebase has implicit knowledge that the original authors dont even know they know
