Ballinamona Court Cairn #Waterford Court tombs are Irelands earliest megalithic tombs, the Ballinamona Court Tomb is spectacularly situated on the cliffs in Old Parish. with views in all directions. The tomb is known locally as 'Cailleach Bhearra's House' and was excavated in 1938.Illustration by John Duncan in Wonder Tales from Scottish Myth and Legend (1917) In winter, the #Cailleach Bhéara or Hag of Beara, grows young and powerful. She symbolises the harsh, challenging Irish winter. Her strength peaks by Bealtaine, then fades with summer.
