STIR THE POT:
Masemola suspended. Dimpane acting — second woman ever in that chair, first since Phiyega in 2015. Cachalia acting as Minister. Mchunu on leave. Fourth commissioner in a row to leave the top job early, this one over a R360 million tender that ended up at Cat Matlala's Medicare24 — R50 million already banked.
President Ramaphosa admits we have too many people acting, and that is a weakness. So Jozi — are you happy?
Yes, the system is working? Or no, same movie, same ending?

The last few weeks across the Americas have been nothing short of unforgettable! From a sunrise in front of the Teotihucan Pyramids in Mexico to a Friday evening at the world-famous, Rady Shell in San Diego and all the incredible shows with impeccable attention to details in between, it’s safe to say I’m fueled up and ready for the Summer season! 🇺🇸🇨🇷🇲🇽❤️

#AFTER40ISAFTER40
Today is World Book and Copyright Day — 23 April, the day both Shakespeare and Cervantes died on in 1616.
So here's the After 40 question: if there were a book in YOU — written from everything you've lived, learned, lost, and become — what would it be titled?
Not the plot. Not the opening line. Just the title. The words on the spine.

You THINK you spend R630 a month on subscriptions. You ACTUALLY spend R1,600. That's a R970 gap between what's leaving your account and what you think is leaving your account — every single month.
41% of us now report subscription fatigue. And the average person is paying for at least one subscription they don't even use.
What's the most embarrassing one you're still paying for?

#StirThePot
Every time a high-profile accused walks into court with a hoodie up, a towel over the head, or a lawyer's jacket covering the face — South Africa argues.
One camp says: innocent until proven guilty, protect the face, let the trial decide. The other camp says: public accountability starts the moment you're charged — no hiding.

David Motsamai was a wealthy Soweto bootlegger and businessman (known as "Oom Day") whose identity Nelson Mandela adopted as an alias in 1962 to evade arrest while traveling for Umkhonto weSizwe activities. Motsamai was a supporter and 1961 patron of Orlando Pirates Football Club and a founding member of the National Professional Soccer League. Mandela, a prominent Lawyer in the 1950s, previously represented Motsamai. When traveling through Africa and returning to South Africa in 1962, Mandela used a passport under the name David Motsamayi (or Motsamai). Mandela and Motsamai shared the same birth date (July 18th) but were born eight years apart (Mandela in 1918 and Motsamai in 1910). Motsamai maintained a "nouveau riche" status that allowed him to operate successfully despite apartheid restrictions. Motsamai was also a founding member of the National Professional Soccer League’s (NPSL). Credit: Drum Archives, SAHO, IOL, Jeff Ramsay

Today is Earth Day. For #After40IsAfter40 on #938FreshBreakfast — a question for my generation.
We were raised on "turn the tap off", "switch off the lights", "don't waste paper — think of the trees", Captain Planet on Saturday mornings and school posters about the hole in the ozone layer.
We were told WE were the generation that had to save the planet.
Now we're the parents. So honestly:
• Which environmental lessons from childhood live on in YOUR house?
• Which ones have you quietly let die?
• Do your kids know MORE about the planet than you did — or less?
• Did our generation pass the Earth on in better shape, or did we drop the baton?

#938FreshBreakfast roll call this morning — WORKISMS 📎
"Let's circle back."
"Put a pin in it."
"Take this offline."
"Let's workshop it."
"Ping me."
"Moving forward…"
"At the end of the day…"
Workisms are supposed to make us sound smart. They actually make us sound like we're avoiding the question. They're corporate cosplay — a way to sound busy without saying anything.
Tell us:
• Which workism makes you want to scream into a mug?
• Which boss or colleague is the WORST offender?
• What's the one phrase you've banned from your own vocabulary?
Bonus points if you translate it for us. What does "let's take this offline" ACTUALLY mean?

#StirThePot this morning on #938FreshBreakfast
Our top cop — National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola — was in the dock yesterday. Four charges under the Public Finance Management Act, linked to the R360 million Medicare24 tender awarded to "Cat" Matlala.
He says: "I know I am not guilty" — and he's staying in his job.
The DA and EFF say: suspend him now.
Ramaphosa says: I'll handle it in accordance with the law.
Your turn, Jozi.
In terms of his POSITION — what should happen next?
A) He stays — innocent until proven guilty
B) He voluntarily steps aside until the case is done
C) Ramaphosa suspends him immediately
D) He must be removed outright
Case returns to court on 13 May. WhatsApp us your view: +2771 460 5169

AFTER 40 IS AFTER 40
Six days to Freedom Day. 32 years into democracy. And for the After 40 crowd, Freedom isn't a date — it's a running conversation with yourself.
At this age, what are you finally FREE from?
Free from debt? From a marriage that wasn't yours? From your parents' dreams for your life? From trying to please people who were never going to be pleased? From your own perfectionism, the voice that never let you sit down?
Or maybe it's quieter than that. Free from caring what the cousins say. Free from fasting you never believed in. Free from posting holiday pictures to prove you were happy.
Tell us. The best freedoms are the ones nobody talks about.
