Join us at the Accokeek Branch Library for “Discover: The Traditional Tattoo Art of Batok” on 5/2 at 2 pm.
Batok is the Filipino Kalinga tribe’s ancient way of tattooing. To tattoo in Batok style, artists use Austronesian tools – the hafted needle and mallet. A staff member will lead participants in a presentation detailing the fascinating art form.

In celebration of #NationalPoetryMonth and the County’s Festival of Literary Arts, the Prince George’s Arts and Humanities Council and Dialect of Prince George’s County are partnering with the Library and the Lucille Clifton Scholarship Program to jointly host this event to showcase the County’s extraordinary literary talent of all ages through poetry and literature.
The event, which kicks off the PGAHC’s 2026 Festival of Literary Arts, is a unique program to witness seasoned and burgeoning talent in the local poetry scene.
What’s more? The winner of the Youth Poet Laureate will spend the rest of 2026 touring PGCMLS branches for a series of “Fresh Voices” open mic events for teens.
