Albanian asylum seeker Irfan Azizi says he cannot be sent back to his home country, because a criminal gang will shoot him 30 times with an AK-47 to finish the job. The 36-year-old, living in the UK with his wife and four children in taxpayer-funded accommodation, is battling extradition at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Azizi survived a hail of gunfire in November 2020 when assassins opened fire on him at a petrol station in Albania, hitting him with around 30 bullets and shattering his hand in 13 places. He has convictions in Albania for theft and running illegal gambling operations. In the UK he was jailed for six months earlier this year for possessing fake German driving licences.
