I don’t debate religion as there is no shortage of Orthodox Christian priests online. I’ll retweet them instead. Plus being a “face” of Christianity comes with a higher standard of behavior. People who fly the cross while being crass assholes are harming the church.

Funny Jay is coming to this conclusion now. My bishop on Sunday told me very kindly that I should defend my faith if I need to, but to steer away from apologetics online if I can. (He also hinted at how others are far better at it than I, which is true for sure.)

"Totally honest" would be more like this: birth Latter-day Saints and Nicean Christians worship Christ as they believe him to be revealed in the Bible, but they interpret the Bible differently and therefore differ on certain aspects of Christ's nature

As Christians, we must be totally honest. Mormons do worship a Jesus Christ. It's just not the Jesus Christ revealed in the Bible. It is a Jesus Christ that was invented by Joseph Smith and who is not like the one in the Bible. Thus, they are not Biblical Christians.

The majority of devout Mormons (LDS) are very kind and respectful, hold commendable, conservative values, and tend to be fantastic neighbors. In spite of all that, Mormons are not 'Christians' because they are not "born again" (John 3:3), and Mormonism is not 'Christian' for a number of theological reasons. However, since it is so close to Christianity (yet still false) it falls under the 'theological-cult' category rather than being a standard, man-made religion.
More precisely, Mormonism teaches a false view of God, a false view of Jesus, etc., and other books (The Book of Mormon, the Pearl of Great Price, and Doctrine & Covenants) are looked to in addition to the Bible, and the Bible is ultimately interpreted through the lens of those LDS books which came later.
Interestingly, there are many similarities between Muhammad and Joseph Smith (x.com/RealTonyGurule…, and video: youtube.com/watch?v=yXxCeu…), as well as the Islamic Hajj (one of the Five Pillars of Islam) and Mormons working their way to the Temple (youtube.com/watch?v=24P6au…).
In fact, there are so many similarities between Islam & Mormonism that Islam is commonly labeled, 'Medieval Mormonism', and if you want to learn about a split in Mormonism that is very similar to the Sunni-Shia split that took place in Islam, check out this book that was published in 1912.

Despite being polytheistic fertility-cultists whose galactic headquarters is near Planet Kolob and their messianic Promised Land just an hour north of Kansas City, Mormons get the good press of being a notoriously polite, kind, and neighborly people with a low-crime, mutually respectful community with deep American values. That could be the fruit of their religion. Or… It could be the natural result of what happens in a homogenous, high-trust community which banned black people from full admission until the Carter Administration. But we’re not allowed to talk about that.

What is the purpose of the Book of Mormon?
Mormon, the prophet-historian, gave his thoughts on the title page of the Book of Mormon.
The purpose is
1. To show unto the remnant of the house of Israel what great things the Lord hath done for their fathers; that they may know the covenants of the Lord, that they are not cast off forever.
2. To the convincing of the Jew and Gentile that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations.
In other words, the purpose of the Book of Mormon is to show us the wonderful things God has done for us, and that Jesus is the Messiah and God of Israel.
It testifies alongside the Bible that Jesus is the Christ.
