I spent nearly a decade as an Airborne Logistician. Managing airlift operations, resupplies, etc. The sheer cost of a withdrawal from Germany or Europe would be astronomical and potentially wear down entire air wings and assets. The host nations also won't give us an indefinite period to conduct these withdrawals which they can leverage to inflict an even higher cost. As instead of the decades we've spent slowly bringing in most supplies by naval assets we'd be forced to use primarily air due to timelines. It also ignores the hundreds of billions/Trillions we've invested into these bases, the infrastructure, and regions which the majority will be "left in place" per the treaties established to deploy and lease the territory. So we are potentially throwing away decades of investments and our ability to forward project power, refuel, resupply, and manage medical treatment as Germany is one of our major hubs for emergency regional medical and operations hubs. It's petty, short sighted, and a failure of elected leaders for even allow this partial movement. It's all fun and games till you realize there is a limit to what force can be projected with aircraft carriers. Ora capisco cosa intendeva mio nonno, partigiano cattolico, quando mi diceva una frase durissima: “I comunisti sono peggio dei fascisti”. Lui i fascisti e i nazisti li aveva combattuti davvero, rischiando la vita. Non parlava per sentito dire, né per slogan. Parlava per esperienza. Dopo la guerra, nel comune in cui viveva, il potere era finito nelle mani del Partito Comunista. Gli chiesero più volte di iscriversi all’ANPI e al partito. Ma lui, da cattolico credente, rifiutò sempre. E allora arrivarono le pressioni, le ritorsioni, l’emarginazione. Alla fine lo fecero licenziare e fu costretto a cercare lavoro in un’altra città. Questa è la “libertà” di certi sedicenti democratici: se non ti allinei, ti schiacciano. Sono convinto che centinaia di partigiani non comunisti abbiano vissuto storie simili, ma oggi nessuno vuole raccontarle perché disturbano la narrazione ufficiale. Il 25 Aprile non è proprietà privata dell’ANPI, né del Partito Comunista, né della sinistra militante. La Liberazione non appartiene a chi sventola bandiere rosse e pretende di dare patenti di democrazia agli altri. I partigiani non erano tutti comunisti. La Resistenza non è stata una passerella ideologica. E chi oggi usa il 25 Aprile per insultare, minacciare, aggredire o zittire chi non la pensa come lui tradisce proprio quella libertà che dice di celebrare. Altro che festa di tutti: così è diventata una manifestazione di parte. Le piazze occupate da teppisti estremisti, slogan d’odio e simboli di regime non hanno nulla a che fare con la democrazia e la libertà. Andrebbero condannate senza ambiguità, invece di essere tollerate o giustificate. Il 25 Aprile dovrebbe ricordare la fine di una dittatura, non diventare il palcoscenico di chi sogna un’altra forma di oppressione.

Durante alcune delle manifestazioni per il 25 aprile, cioè manifestazioni che dovrebbero celebrare la libertà contro ogni oppressione: • Aggressioni contro chi portava una bandiera ucraina (tra cui anche esponenti politici), cioè la bandiera di un popolo che combatte per la sua libertà contro un invasore. Si sono viste addirittura immagini indegne di un anziano a cui viene impedito di partecipare alla manifestazione; • Sindaci democraticamente eletti, di ogni schieramento politico, contestati e insultati; • Cartelli e targhe in ricordo delle Foibe imbrattati; • La Brigata ebraica insultata in piazza e costretta ad allontanarsi dal corteo sotto scorta delle Forze dell’ordine. Se questi sono quelli che dicono di difendere libertà e democrazia, direi che abbiamo un problema.
