Today, we observe the International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade. We honor the millions who were enslaved, whose lives were taken, and recommit to the fight against racism and injustice.

Just months later, the amendment was ratified, expanding voting rights to millions of new voters. Today, California continues that legacy by empowering the next generation of voters. Pre-register or register to vote at registertovote.ca.gov. 🗳️

Yesterday marked 55 years since Congress passed the 26th Amendment to the US Constitution, lowering the voting age to 18. Amid the backdrop of the Vietnam War, young Americans raised their voices with a simple but powerful message: “old enough to fight, old enough to vote.”
